  1. After importing a .DWG exported from revit the blue grid isn't visible and the marquee /selection color is white and invisible  (in any mode) .  Any tips where to change this back. It would be nice if importing a .dwg wouldn't change basic vectorwork settings. I tried reinstalling but these preferences/settings are still there . I can change the background color to black and see the white color of the selection tool.

  2. Thanks I have another question? Is there anyway to make the border of the marquee tool a color? Since importing this wacky DWG it's all white so invisible when you draw a box, lasso etc around objects . It works but the behavior doesn't seem normal.  Aren't you supposed to see a light box when you select things?

There's no built in way to do this in Vectorworks but it does sound like something that might be possible via scripts or Marionette.

Thanks!   Also there is no way to add varying slopes.  If you google "roof crickets". you can see the function. Basically pitched flat roofs often have pitched smaller pie shaped elements at much higher grades to direct the water. I realize it's not the most important update but it would add functionality and realism .

  4. Hi I have installed 2023 and am trying to make a curtain wall schedule to accompany the window schedule.  Is this at all possible? I noticed on the 2023 demo file  viewports were used to make a schedule so perhaps not?     It seems like an argument is missing on the filter so one could make a proper curtain wall schedule ?  Thanks !

Slab objects are also good for creating flat roofs. The Slab Drainage feature allows drains to be placed and will create low pitched slopes to them:

Hi is it possible to output a tapered insulation plan to give to a vendor from the data computed and drawn by this tool?

Ok I copied the roof and deleted everything but the insulation and now I can manually trim the solid in 4x8 sections.  Is there an automated way to do this?

    Thanks

Save a copy of the file…

Turn everything on and make sure all classes and layers are visible and not grey.

make sure all layers are the same layer scale.

Select the objects you want to keep, choose ‘invert selection’ from the edit menu and then hit delete.

often find rogue objects hang around after DWG import so don’t import DWG directly into the file.

failing that, create a new file and copy data from one to the other layer by layer to see which layer has the problem.

    Enjoy the detective work.

    Thanks got it!

  7. I am trying to tighten up my drawing but have some random objects in space that are not close to the origin but are causing problems I believe with cloud export.  Any idea how I can delete these while maintaining the  house model which is centered on the origin ?   When I try to center the drawing I get the attached warning.  No idea how this happened.  Thanks for any help!

Also what about modeling a house with double height spaces within a structure with single heights ? Like a double height living room ?  Stories doesn’t seem good for this ?  Thanks

Hi has this been improved in 2022 or 2023?  Thanks.  Do you have a link to this .docx?

@bmaad..I think you can do it on the fly...However, the additional level will only be available in that story...you'd need to create another one in any additional stories...However, in your case, it seems you only need to add the additional level to just one story

@jcrock, here's a brief explanation of model set-up and a sample file for a split-level building.  You might want to run through all the Saved Views as well as explore the Default Story Levels to see the initial set up.  It's not by any means all worked out but hopefully will get you started.
