  1. I hear exactly what you guys are trying to do, and I tried that too. My options on Extrude Along Path are greyed out, and are only available when I the path to the profile (which is not my intended extrusion path). How are you guys making this work?
  2. Islandmon - are you doing a loft with this? Or are you doing a sweep? Thanks alot guys, Eddie
  3. The sweep is not a perfect arch. It needs to be an irregular sweep (like a teardrop). Does this clarify things better, Biplap?
  4. Hi all, looking to make a ring, not unsimilar to an olympic trapeze ring. Problem is, the profile is thin (.5" at the top, then thickens to 1" thick at the base of the ring. I made the circular .5" top rail, the 1" bottom rail, and the loft curve, and I get wonky results. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  5. I have noticed that when I pull off a drawing off the network that I have recently saved, some of the text on the viewports are flipped upside down. Anyone else experiencing this?
  6. Anyone know of a way to automatically callout your symbols on a Sheet Layer based on the records attached to that symbol? Thanks
  7. Hi All, I have an imported CAD file from AutoCad that is in the shape of a 'Bent Chocolatebar' (cant think of a better way to describe it) where the squares of the bar would be on the outside radius. What I need is to mirror this file so the squares would be on the inside radius, leaving the outside to be smooth. Is this possible, or do I need to re-draw it? The 3D mirror gives me only flipped geometry. Here's a link to the image: http://apeplayground.com/graphics/climbers/gallery/Climbers/Deck%20Climbers/Bedrock%20Poly%20Climber.jpg Thanks! Eddie
  8. Hi Cipes, actually deleting the class. Islandmon, what do you mean by WGR? Eddie
  9. I am trying to delete one class in my symbol library (stored in a VW file), and it locks up VW forever. Anyone have any suggestions?
  10. Chris D, Solidworks' eDrawings has a version for Mac that works OK for your quick viewing of DWG/DXF files. Its a little unstable, and likes to explode on you the odd time. It is quick and simple. http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/MAC_Viewer.html
  11. George, very nice. How do you put the texture on the computer monitor? Is it simply a screen shot, created into a texture, and you apply luminance to it?
  12. Hi David, never tried that, just imported directly without changing units. Pretty new to C4D. I quite often dont have to model anything else than what I have modelled in VW, so it really doesnt matter to me in most cases. I found the problem when modelling something in C4d that i couldnt do in VW as easily. THe item was huge when I imported the VW file.
  13. Jumping in now ... I frequent the VW Exchange plugin (Version 2). Although, like SquirrelBoy my models are always scaled down to a miniscule amount, I do find the plugin quite stable. I remember a few times waiting for the plugin to chew away at a large drawing for 10 minutes, expecting at any moment VW would explode ... however it seems to be pretty darn good. It is limited to objects with less than 1000 vertices. Also your class names need to be less than 35 characters. If something was solved on the scaling issue, I would be very happy.
  14. Thanks for the response, David. I am looking for summaries of individual symbol instances, not the total summary of symbols. Do you know of a way to do this? Thanks Eddie
  15. Hi all, looking to create a report where if I summarize duplicate symbols, it also numbers the amount of instances of that symbol, not just give me 1 line item in the chart. any suggestions? Thanks Eddie
  16. This is great, Pharr. Very very much appreciated.
  17. Thanks Pharr. I appreciate your efforts. If any more of the new VW 12 users can comment on speed in compared with 11.1, or 11.5, we would all appreciate it!
  18. Can anyone comment on render speed / OIP speed compared with 11.1 or 11.5? I bet alot of us users are interested.
  19. I have created a NURBS curve, and I need to lock the Z coordinate so when I move it around on the plane it doesnt pick up another geometric point and go out of position. Anyone know how I can do this? THanks
  20. Very nice, thanks for your help Eddie
  21. OK Thanks for your time. So I want to create a NURBS curve with a hole in the centre, or possibly multiple holes. Based on your suggestions above, I create a square from the rectangle too, or composing 4 lines together. Then I convert to a NURBS surface (Create Surface from Curves), and the lines turn red. Then according to your suggestions above, I can transform that surface by the use of 2D trim lines or polygon shapes. So I take a 2D circle, and try to 'Clip' the circle from the NURBS surface, and it tells me I have illegal objects ... I must be missing the obvious here. Thanks Islandmon! Eddie
  22. Islandmon, its a very nice approach, and it will save alot of headaches and speed issues. Do you have any basic ways to approach the array, or simple calcs (especially circular, sperical, or curved arrays) that you have found over the years? I find solid modelling can usually turn out heavy and slow. Also, I once downloaded one of your files (I believe it was for the perforated sheet). I tried to go deep into the symbol as it was a curved piece with a hole cut out to try to determine how you built it. I would really love to learn how to use NURBS modelling more effectively. I am sure its something different than solid modelling / then converting to NURBS? Sorry for the many questions in this post - but I would have a hunch that many are wondering the same thing...
  23. Wow, an easy to read, simple, understandable unbiased review. Go figure. Nice reference, alanmac.
