Also: if you set Task manager to do Layout geometry, you can work with Guides to establish / outline the basic geometry.They do not interfere with the rest of the drawing as you go on adding stuff.

Hi I just got a new hardrive/keyboard. It seems that in the process I lost the function where the side numeric keys control the views (1 left axon, 2 front, 3 right axon etc.). what can I do to bring that back? using VW 10.5 and PC. Thanks.

I am looking for suggestions on efficient way to generate a window schedule: I made several window symbols which I would like to summarize in a window schedule with detailed info. I am a bit confused by the wealth options: the data can be entered in the ID labels. It can be entered in the drawing level Data tab, and also inside the Edit Symbol OIF Data tab. Sometimes this seems to create duplicate windows. Sometimes I do not know which info supercedes which one. Do they contracdict each other? Because they do not automatically keep consistent. Some info is automatically brought in from the PIO library. Then there is "Attach Record" which will create a custom record, but where should I fill this in - in each instance or in edit symbol or in ID label? What is my best bet in generating easy consistent window schedule? Just got lost in it. Thank you. VW 10.5 on Windows

Similar issue: there are "08 Drs_Sidelights" plug-ins which have doors with 2 sidelights - very common and helpful, but the door configuration only offers swing and bi-swing. How about single and double slider, could you add them, please. Thanks.

I am considering upgrading to VW 11. In your FAQ, it says the viewports, unlike the model link, will link all model levels of a multi-story building automatically. What if I want to leave a level out, or in other ways link only some model levels selectively, is it do-able? Thank you VW 10.5.1 on PC Windows.

I was hoping to use the trace bitmap command to save on file size. But the traced bitmap was just as big if not bigger than the original bitmap. I suppose it is not meant to save memory / decrease file size? Thank you VW 10.5.1 on PC Windows

I use the Issue Manager - works great. But, I have 2 questions: once an issue is issued, can it be de-issued? If I do not like my "issue number 4", can I "take it back" and issue a different "issue number 4"? I have not figured that one out. Secondly, I have a problem: names of drawings and drawing numbers in titleblocks on some sheets are doubled up, e.g. overlayed, e.g. the titleblock shows info from two different sheets superimposed, resulting in unreadable jumble. Robert, thank you that sounds like a great solution, but when I go to the report for "window", the available categories are all the parameters in the Object Info, but class and layer settings are not shown as "trackable". Am I missing something? thanks.

Sorry: Version 10.5 platform Windows ME. I cannot reproduce it: I do not understand how it happens. That is the question. Could I somehow have the walls selected, and if I hatch other objects / polygons, it would also re-hatch the walls? Do commands work on objects which are selected on unused layers / sheets?

Maybe a few professional good looking people would be a great idea then. It is a great help in showing scale in elevations. It beats showing a 5.5 feet tall block and other improvisations.

I have a few wall types with different hatches to distinguish them. Sometimes, mysteriously, the walls (usually all the walls of the same kind) change hatch. Is that a bug or am I doing something wrong? Thank you, experts.

My file has four floor plans, and system generated electrical and framing plans. It has model link elevations. There are no duplicate plans as far as I can tell, yet my window schedule comes up with double of all the windows of the first floor plan. Somewhere there may be some ghost copy of the first floor? How can I find it and delete it? ( P.S. it is not in the site plan either, or details.) I wish I could at least edit the window schedule worksheet manually, but the rows cannot be highlighted individually for editing, the entire block highlights instead. Can you point me to some solutions? Thanks.

If I import an image file (I have jpeg files I imported), it shows up in the current layer as a "bitmap", and once it is there, my desktop printer will not print that file, just sits there with no response at all to a print command. Why oh why?

Thank you that sounds so good but even as we did that the printer could not use the files, something was wrong, so we gave up on it. If I give them the .mcd file, why should they have a problem with that margin issue? I noticed that if you set up the sheets, the border symbol and the page area are always slightly mismatched, and I am afraid that is somehow where the problem is. Anybody knows why that is?

My plotting people have the viewer only. They are having constant problems with fitting the page on a sheet (or roll) of paper. I used to set my print area at Arch D, now I just set it at "other" 35.9 x 23.9, to eliminate any hidden margins, they tried that too, but no matter what we do, the page will get cut off an inch or two, and printed over 2 sheets. So they end up having to put it on 30x42 or 36x48 paper and having to trim it. Any suggestions? Thank you.

The Create Standard Sheets command will generate a bunch of layers, and there is no rhyme and reason to the layers naming, when in comes to Mod- and Sheet- layers meant to work together, so that you could quickly find them in the list when you work and switch. Here are some actual examples now in program: Mod-Floor-1 Sheet-FloorPlan-1 Mod-Int Elevation-1 Sheet-IntElev-1 Mod-Detail-Arch-1 Sheet-Details-1 Mod-3D View-1 Sheet - Perspective-1 Mod-Electrical-1 Sheet-Power-1 and on and on...... COULD YOU PLEASE RENAME THEM IN A SIMPLE CONSISTENT, MATCHING WAY? such as Mod-Floor-1 Sheet-Floor-1 Mod-Details-1 Sheet-Details-1 etc. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

When drawing, I always keep Object Info and Resource Browser opened, since I constantly use them, they are docked on the right side of the screen. This makes the top bars narrower, and so in the bar with X,Y,A,L,classes, layers and zoom the windows get narrower. As a result, I loose the ability to tell the layer name, since I have a whole bunch of layers called Mod-Floor-something or Sheet-Floor-something etc, but only Mod-Flo... truncated like that will show. It seems that this could easily be fixed by adjusting sizes of these "windows" (all of them are now the same width), by taking little unused space from X,Y,A,L and most definitely from zoom, and giving it to layer names, so that they would show more completely? Just a little real estate re-distribution to where it is useful? Thanks.

I agree that screen real estate is a problem. Yet for users like me with a lot of sheets in a file this would be so very helpful / time saving. I am also about to post a new entry: size of layer name window - similar question.

Wishing for the following, unless I am overlooking something, a new user 1.Provide a way to identify which sheet is active ? something similar to classes and layers ? A pop-up window with the active sheet listed? Bold font for the active sheet on the list of sheets? 2.Round and oval windows, Andersen and Marvin, or at least ?custom? ? there are none! In round top and (future)round/oval windows, a way to do muntins? 3. On the mode bar which appears with the 3D selection tool and provides different buttons for some 3D views: add button for Top/Plan view, so that I do not have to do Control 5, but have that available at a click in the same bar, when switching views Thank you.
