  1. No. I use different names for all views (floor plan, elevation a, elevation b, mechanical, etc.) I might have some design layers with the same name as a saved view (mechanical as a design layer, and mechanical as a saved view). However, since I select the design and sheet layers that I want visible during the save view process, I don't see how that would affect anything. But I'm definitely open to any possibilites. Thanks, Chris
  2. Mac OS 10.3.6 printing to a laser printer (Gestetner 3227) via Ethernet connection. Using VW 11.0.1 When batch printing saved views. It will print the first view only. For instance, if I have 16 saved views I need to print, I select the batch print command and make sure all the saved views are checked to be printed. One copy each. Instead I get 16 copies of my first saved view. This is 100% repeatable. The only way for me to print the other saved views is to print them one at a time. The number of copies of my first saved view is always equal to the number of saved views I'm printing. Help!
  3. It would be nice if I was able to store font information such as font, point size, etc. in its own class. I use different fonts and font sizes throughout my drawings. So, for example, my font "classes" would be "sheet titles", "callouts", "cabinet labels", etc. For instance, Client name and client address in the title blocks are the same font, but different sizes. The same is true for sheet numbers. I use a completely different font for all text that is part of the actual drawing. My Room titles on sheets, my cabinetry labeling, my construction notes, callouts, etc. all are the same font, but are varying point sizes. It would be wonderful if all I had to do was change the class, and begin labeling. Then I could later change font info by simply changing its class, rather than having to go the the text format window. Just a thought, but it would be very sweet! Thanks!
  4. I had the same issue. I called my service bureau and got the make and model of their large format printer (in my case an HP 755c). I then went to the HP website, and downloaded the appropriate printer driver. I just make sure that the HP is selected as my printer when "printing" for my service bureau. That's all there is to it. Save to pdf from the print dialog box, and you should be good to go.
  5. I'm probably not the right person to answer this, but here goes. I'm using v.10. I created various templates for the sheet sizes I use. On each I created my borders and title blocks, complete with company logo, etc. on a layer I named "title block". Pretty catchy, huh? Anyway, I set the scale on the the title block layer to 1:1. This method works great for me, and has no problems at all. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind once I move up to v. 11. Later
  6. Duh! Of course it is! Thanks so much! I can't believe I missed it! Thanks again for the help!
  7. I'm obviously not seeing something. My copy of Viewer (11.0.0) doesn't seem to have a sheets button. The only tool bars available in the version I have are the 2D tools, the 3D tools, the measuring tools, and the object info palette. I've searched all the pull-down menu items, and can't find sheets mentioned anywhere. In regard to printing there is only the page setup menu item and the print menu item. Thanks in advance for guiding me to the sheet handling in Viewer. thanks, Chris
  8. Is there a simple way to create custom turned posts? 2D is all I need. Currently, I use tangent arcs to create the "french-curve" look of posts I design, then group all the pieces. That works okay until I need to stretch the width of the post (I use the 2-D locus tool for that). the rectangular portions of the posts re-size fine, but the arcs do not. I apologize for the basic questions to all you power-users out there! Once again, any suggestions or links to sources for dwg files of turnings would be appreciated! Thanks!
  9. Until the present, I've always drawn everything by hand, and taken it to a service to be copied and bound for presentation to clients (I work for a small, high-end kitchen design firm). I'm now drawing in VW (10.5.0), and would like to send the file to the service for printing. They've downloaded the viewer software, and I've downloaded the drivers for their plotter. I set-up my larger drawings using the printer settings for their device. My problem is that I set -up sheets for my projects, but it doesn't look as if Viewer can print sheets. Or am I missing something? The work around, I guess, would be to copy and paste each sheet to a new file, then email each indiviual sheet as a seperate file. This seems a bit cumbersome. Any suggestions would be welcomed! Thanks!
  10. Thank you both for your help. Your tips have helped make it a bit simpler. Thanks.
  11. I'm a new VW user (actually, I've had the software for quite some time, but have only now begun to use it), and was wondering if it is possible to use classes to set font and point size. My company does high-end remodeling geared toward kitchen and bath work. It would be nice if, for instance, I could label my cabinetry, do call-outs, have sheet titles, elevation markers, construction notes, etc. that could change their point size and style based upon which class the text was assigned to. If this is an old subject, or is easily remedied, I apologize for the bother, but I couldn't find a related topic among the forums. Thanks!
  12. I would love to see a curved leader available in Vectorworks. I do architectural drawing (mostly 2D), and would prefer a curved leader over the "sterile" straight-line leader offered. I think straight-line leaders are fine for mechanical type drawings, but like the "artism" offered by the curve. Maybe someone had developed this already. If so, let me know!
