  1. And how would i set up these symbol folders katie refers to? Stefan [ 03-24-2004, 06:52 PM: Message edited by: Stefan ]
  2. Kristin, that is an interesting preference that i haven't seen before Selective eyesight i guess. I will keep that in mind next time i run into the problem and see if it solves it. Thanks.
  3. Hi, Just wondering what the use of the document folder list would be. All ive ever seen it say is Top Level and nothing else. I assume that you can organise the resource browser into categories or something along those lines, but as to how i would do that, i have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stefan
  4. Well, thank you Katie. I was going crazy for a sec there. Your always a big help in here
  5. Hey, Got a problem here. Im copying a drawing from one file to another, and when i delete that drawing in the new file, it only deletes the objects and not the dimensions. Now when i do this, the dimensions get 'stuck' you could say. I can't select the dimensions at all, both by selecting with mouse and with command-a. I know for a fact that the dimensions are on the layer that im working on tho, because when i set layer options to view active only, on every other layer the dimensions disappear. Hope this makes sense and I hope someone can help me. OSX 10.2.8 Vectorworks 10.1.2 256 M Ram
  6. I have a question along the same lines. When i try to .pdf my files, the text of the dimensions that are at an angle get all screwed up. Im using Adobe PDFwriter 4.0 with Vectorworks 10.1.2 and OS 9.0.4. I've then tried to use my existing printer (HP Laserjet 4000) to "save as file", tried making a new printer using the Acrobat Distiller PPD - this results in 3 possible printers being made (HP laserjet 4000, Virtual Printer, and Create Adobe PDF). As for all these senarios, i get an error log saying... %%[ Error: invalidaccess; OffendingCommand: def ]%% Stack: {transform 0.25 sub round 0.25 add exch 0.25 sub round 0.25 add exch itransform} /pl /Courier %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %% Please any ideas?! I've tried to put the font courier in any font folder that doesnt have it on the machine and that didn't do a thing.
  7. Is there any way to convert to QTVR after you've compiled the clip Cloud Hidden? Sure it would be much easier to do it direct from VW but does it still help with file size?
  8. Bryan, How large was this file you created with VW? I would be making animations all the time, if it wasn't for the file sizes. Any other techniques you can suggest other than the standard ones mentioned above? Thanks.
  9. heh, no worries katie, didn't mean to sound jaded. Guess ill change my ways to cater to this new environment That would be awsome if you would add it to the wish list. Man, that list must be long.
  10. I see your point but i have a hard time printing all those blank pages in order to just get 4 pages out. You see, i have a 4 across x 2 down layout and ive drawn all my drawings across the top 4 pages. So what your saying is its impossible for me to print my 4 pages, set up as i am right now? And in order for me to get around this, i have to draw beginning at the top left, and work my way down, and then up again beside the top left one and so on??
  11. so in order to print, am i going to have to turn my drawings 90 degrees every time in order to print landscape?? Because right now when i choose landscape, my drawings get cut in half because they are drawn using portrait... and if this is the case, why is there a setting under print-layout that controls which way the pages print but seems to be useless?? 12. Im having the same problem here but ive found the customizing menu under print -> layout. I've set the layout to print from left to right, not up and down, and yet it stil prints top left, to bottom left, and so on.... What should i do? OS 10.2.6 VW 10.1.0 Printer HP Laserjet 4000TN
  13. Hmm, interesting.. guess i learn something every day. What kind of experience do you have with CNC routers?
  14. Yeah, i know were talking about a sandpaper stroke or two here, but its the thought that counts I however do know the CNC runs on curves because when we're hard coding it, we do a start coordinate, end coordinate and radius. But if i were to use these curves exported by vectorworks, all it would require would be a little touch with sandpaper, if that. No biggie. I guess i always gripe when cut product is a millimeter or two off. [ 05-09-2003, 07:48 PM: Message edited by: Stefan ]
  15. Sorry i took so long to reply Katie. As for what is set under the preferences, it was on low, and by setting it to very high, it did improve how it 'looked' but when i export it (dxf/dwg) it would still be quite a bunch of segment lines. All it did was increase the number of them, so in theory it still isn't accurate. Last thing i want is for my CNC router to do all those small little lines. And so i leave the offsetting to the "inferior" program, still. I wholeheartedly agree with P Retondo, so i do hope this issue gets improved. In any case, thanks Katie. Got a question. Um, since this is a vector based program, why would the offset be like this? And, why hasn't this issue been addressed in the past 10 versions of vectorworks?! 16. Hey i have an accuracy problem here. I have made a rectangular shape with radiused corners and one corner taken up with a large arc. I want to offset to the inside of the shape, but when i do so, it seems to get chunky almost. It's like it converts everything to lines, and not arcs. (i export it and it IS a bunch of lines) Here's a test that proves my point. Draw an arc or a half circle, and draw some lines coming off each end point. Now compose the three objects, and offset a distance to the inside. The resulting arc/circle is now a grouping of lines shaped like an arc. I hope there's a different way of doing this and im doing something wrong. My objective is to get this offset as smooth as possible because im exporting to a CNC machine program that is not impressive, and yet it would do a better but slower job of this drafting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Thank you for that Kristin. From your process i came up with making the outside oval of the sink, then cutting it in half. Then i make the inside oval of the sink, and subtracted that from the previous half oval i made. In any case, ive got it now. Thanks again.
  18. Have a problem here. Im trying to make an oval sink but don't know how. The process that i've tried was to take an oval, "create a surface from curves", change the U and V degrees to equal 2, select the point in the center and drop the z value down below the rim. Now when i do this, the point im dropping down seems to drag the rim of the oval down with it, which is not what i want. I need the original shape of the oval and a curve downward towards the center. Hence an oval sink. Any help would be greatly appreciated I also used another process of making a box, creating a sphere and then subtracting half the sphere from the box to create a circular sink, but im looking for an oval sink, so im stuck.
