I too could not see these commands. I then opened the workspace editor and found them, (along with other interesting commands).

Robert; Is there a way to globally toggle the ceiling view? Or do I have to go to each door one by one and change the ceiling view in the OIP?
  6. Thanks for the info. I am still wondering if you are able to use the SketchUp model for your VW design development and working drawings? Or do you redraw the model in VW? As I think about this, it seems to me that both SketchUp and VW 3D Power Pack can probably only be used as preliminary massing tools. Once the massing is established, one would still need to construct a model using the wall, roof, window, and door tools. Is my thinking correct on this? Thanks in advance for any experience and advice that you can offer.
  7. Hi Matthew; Great to hear from you! Thanks for the info. I already have and use Doodle. Though SketchUp does have the ability to simulate a rough sketch, the real ability is to model in 3d. The demo that I saw, showed the ability to create and intelligently manipulate 3d volumes. I know that when I first saw the advertisement for this product, I thought that it was the same as Doodle. I thought that it took existing 3d wireframes and rough sketched them. From what I can see it's true power is easy 3d model creation. My thought is that this could be used to create a model in design and then export to VW for design development and working drawings. I have not used VW 3d Power Pack. Are the two similar? This is a link to the SketchUp site that shows a Quicktime, (for Mac), overview of the product. http://www.sketchup.com/video_qt.php?file=http://downloads.sketchup. com/Demos/z4-features-overview-mac.mov This movie gives a shorter overview of the product. http://downloads.sketchup.com/Demos/a1-watch_me_first-mac.mov Matthew, your valued imput is always welcome. Thank you. [ 11-10-2002, 01:53 PM: Message edited by: Kevin ]
  8. I was wondering if any users have experience with SketchUp software. It seems like a great product but I am wondering how it is able to interface with Vectorworks. Katie, do you know if this software is compatible with VW? Is this a compliment to VW or can VW already do what SketchUp promises to do?
  9. Autocad did not create Revit. Revit was independently created and Autocad had the wisdom to buy them out. I briefly looked at this program until I saw the pricing structure. It did not appeal to me. Any info you can share on this program would be interesting.
  10. Andy; Most of us are using a Hewlett Packard plotter. As you can see from the comments in the Printing/Plotting Section, many of us have issues with the way that HP implements their software. I myself have a four year old HP 455CA which one day will need replacement. For myself, and on behalf of all those other HP users using a Mac, I would love to hear of anything that you can tell us about your experience with this plotter. This could be very valuable information for all of us who are buying a plotter or who might consider adding to or changing our current plotters. I would also love to hear of any information that you have on plotting images from other programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Thanks in advance for anything that you can share.
  11. Thank you Katie. I already did what you suggested before I wrote my message. I do not see any method to position the columns other than the heading and subheading fields. By default, the program places the Window heading at the left. Then comes Size and then General. I logically assumed that if I gave my new column the heading of Window that it would find itself in that area. This is not what happens. The schedule now creates another Window heading at the right of my schedule so that I have two Window headings with my new column of Config. under that second major heading of Window. Is this how I am supposed to change the position of columns? If it is, what am I doing wrong? Thank you for your help. [ 10-30-2002, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: Kevin ]
  12. Thank you Katie. When I add a new field and hence a new column to the Door and Window Schedules, the new column is placed at the far right of the schedule. Is there a way to edit the location of new and existing columns in the schedule?
  13. How do I include the window type, ie: "Config." in my window schedule? I would think that this would be a part of the default record. When I select Casement, or Double Hung, or Fixed for a window, I need that information to show in my window schedule.
  14. Hi Matthew; It is good to "hear your voice again". When you say that VW10 should be able to import AC hatches, does this mean that I can download an AutoCad hatch off of the internet and then open it in VW10?
  15. Robert; Thank you for your timely help. I will give it a try.
  16. Yesterday I received notification of the new release via email. NNA has implemented a new "eDispatch Technical Bulletin". You might want to check if you are on the email list. My email was from Paul Pharr, pharr@nemetschek.net.
  17. I have my architect's stamp as an image on my common sheet. It has a unique class setting of Architect Stamp. For preliminary drawings this class is set to invisible. When I am ready to print final drawings, I then turn this class to visible so that all final drawings will bear my stamp. The problem is that I must go to each and every saved sheet and change the Architect Stamp class to visible. Is there a way to change the class in all saved sheets at once instead of one at a time?
  18. Mike; Something I just recently learned. You can do math in the Position OIP. If you want to move a door 3 inches, just type +3 after the shown dimension. The OIP adds the 3 inches to the shown number and correspondingly moves your door 3 inches.
  19. Hi Kurt; I have been printing to File for so long that it has become natural. I gave up trying to fix the problem of not being able to print to Print. A while ago you mentioned it is perhaps a font problem. I have purchased several font utilities to both check integrity and to organize, (Suitcase 10). I am hoping that when things slow down over the holidays that I can spend the time to look at the fonts. I would like to fix the printing problem and hopefully be able to use Suitcase to reduce the fonts available in Vectorworks to a dozen or so. (I now have hundreds available). As for the laserwriter driver and carbon lib, I have decided for now to "let the sleeping dog lie". It seems lately that whenever someone updates there are a new slew of problems. Thanks for your input.
  20. Kurt; I agree. I have had my 455CA for 4 years now. At first it was a pain to setup and figure out, but now I really don't think about it. I have never been able to get it to spool directly into the RIP. What I now do is to save all print jobs to File. This way the printing from VW is independant of the RIP. It also gives me something to make PDF's of in Acrobat Distiller if I so choose. Once the sheets are printed to File, I do just as you suggest. I open the files on a separate G3 that runs the RIP. Once I press the Green Start button the process is automatic. Sure it prints slow, but why do I care. While it is printing I am working in VW on the other computer. Or better yet, it is printing while I am sleeping. On a separate note: Be sure that you keep the carriage rail lubed. The lube dries out eventually.
  21. If you use Apple's Software Update located in the Control Panel, it will download and install the application/extension for you.
  22. I am in the market for a new multi-function laser, (copy, fax, print, scan). Hewlett Packard has brought out some new laser units that look great, model: Laserjet 3330. However, I along with many others have been burned by their terrible software for the Mac. Does anyone have experience with using this unit on a Mac?
  23. Most of the comments in this forum are about HP ploters and Epson desktop printers. I do not see anything about the large format Epson Plotters. Is this lack of talk because everyone is happy with them or because no one is using them? I would like to hear from anyone who has some experience with the 24" wide and wider Epson Plotters.
  24. I would like to point out that our dearly beloved Katie has now made her 1000th posting to this support board. Thank you Katie for all your hard work!
  25. Can anyone explain why one would want to check the box "Postscript Only". I do not understand what function it serves.
