  1. Katie...when you say select the appropriate tool pallete, I feel I am...the 2D Symbol Insertion Tool on the 2D Tools Pallete. At that point, where would I select the PIO, if not from the Resource Pallete? Maybe you could run me through the process...let's say describing how you would place the "machine screw" PIO (in Plug In Folder) in your drawing, one step at a time. I'm sure this is simple, but for some reason, I'm just not getting it. Thanks. Steven
  2. I finally have this figured out.....thanks for all the help. One quick note and the source of my confusion.. I have 2 books on VW. One by Janis Kent and the other, a more recent publication by PeachPit Press...VW for Windows and Mac by Tom Baer. Below is a quote from this book and I believe one that is incorrect: "To Insert a Plug In Object:1. Click the 2D Symbol Insertion tool on the 2D Tools Pallette and then go to the Resources palette and choose the plug-in object you want to place in the drawing."
  3. Thanks, Katie. I'm using Architect but in Standard Workspace (this suits what I do better). This was the problem...Standard Workspace doesn't have the Object Palette that Architect Workspace has. I went into Workspace Editor to place the Object Palette in Standard Workspace but seem to not be able to do this..not sure why. I see a Tools Palette but unable to delve in to this to grab Object Palette. Any thoughts? Thanks, again..your experience and knowledge is much appreciated. Steven
  4. Cipes.....are you saying the PIO should actually appear on a pallete, such as the 2D pallete in order to use it? Would there then be an icon of the PIO , such as "machine bolt" on the Pallete itself? This doesn't make much sense to me but it seems that's what you were implying. What am I missing here? Steven
  5. I must be doing something wrong, but not sure. Would appreciate any advice. For example...I would like to insert the PIO labeled "Machine Screw (inch) into my drawing.I click 2D Symbol Insertion Tool.....open up Resource Pallete. Manipulate "Plug In Folder" to top portion of Resouce window. When I click this folder, while at the top, it shows me all the PIO's, including machine screw inside....but only while the mouse is clicked. I can't get the contents of the PIO folder to appear below.....just other folders within this folder, such as "Data" and "Interface". Bottom line is that I'm unable to select a PIO, in order to click and place one in my drawing. Sorry if this is a bit "long winded". Perhaps someone could help out here. Thanks in advance. Steven
  6. Josh, you should check out the Microspot web site. They offer a mac compatible driver for HP DesignJet Plotters. Not cheap but really no other options as far as I know. I'm running an older HP330 DesignJet, working on a G4 and using Microspot's "GraphikPac". It's worked flawlessly for me. Here are a couple of websites to check out: http://www.macroenter.net/ http://www.microspot.co.uk/ Good luck, Steven
  7. Just discovered why 9.5.1 was not opening. I had turned off the Open GL library of extensions awhile ago. Not sure why other than trying to limit extension loading at startup. 9.5 worked fine with these off. I guess this set has become more critical to the proper functioning of 9.5.1. Thanks, Katie. Steven
  8. Katy....well, when base extensions were turned on, 9.5.1 opened fine (changing memory allocation did not help). So, obviously some kind of extension conflict. Determining the culprit can be a fairly tedious task. Have you observed any extensions (beside Internet Config) that are typically responsible for funny behavior in VW? I'm surprised that this has been brought on by the recent update, that previous to this, I have had no problems. Again, thank you.
  9. Interesting. Thanks, Katie. I'll go through things and let you know how it goes. Thank you for your assistance. It's much appreciated.
  10. Hi Katie. I have CarbonLib 1.5 installed. As for new extensions, none that I can think of. One thing though..I still have the 9.5 folder .......this version remains as stable. as ever (never a problem). It's 9.5.1 alone that is having some compatibility issue. Do you find this odd? That 9.5 works fine and 9.5.1 does not? Steven
  11. Updated to 9.5.1 last night with the Web Updater (long!). Every time I try to open the updated verion of VW I get a Type 3 Error. Any suggestions? Or do I need to go through this lengthy download again? Other people having this problem? On a Mac..G4...256Ram 400mhz...100 mb alloted to VW.
  12. I just updated Microspot Raster to 5.1.2+....had 5.1.2 (no +) That seemed to solve the black page syndrome...some Carbon related issue evidently.
  13. I just set up an HP Design Jet 330 with my G3 to G4 Mac running VW 9.5. Using the Microspot Raster just purchased in their "Graphic Pak". Everything went smoothly, test page from Microspot application printed ok but when trying to print a VW drawing file, it comes through with basically a striated black page. I remember reading about this when VW9.5 first came out but can't remember just what this was all about. Anyone have any experience with this situation? Quick fix? Thanks.
