This ^^ Happens every year. Why can't VW release 2019 in, er, 2019 working with the latest OS. Having a concurrent release with Mac OS is always a nightmare.

Thank you Jonathan, you've just saved us a lot of headscratching. We have experienced these issues saving to our server after having ESET installed on our Macs. The solution appears to be to open preferences in ESET and under Real-time Protection, make sure 'Scan on file creation' is turned OFF.
