  1. Good catch Pat. I did not restore it to the correct location. This business is confusing when different workspaces resided in different places. Do you know why there are workspaces in the VW app folder when the ones that are used reside in the user's app support folder (when set that way)? All of this said, palettes that change size and location by themselves is not acceptable. No other program that I use has ever done this.
  2. It happened again this morning. I did nothing but wake my computer from sleep, and the workspace was goofed. Palettes change positions on their own. Installed one of my many workspace backups, palettes still goofed. Installed a workspace backup from my Time Machine backup from a day ago. Palettes still goofed up. This is not good. I can not be the only person who has experienced this. I've had it happen on different computers, different systems, and different versions of VW.
  3. I have found the problem is somehow related to zooming in using command+spacebar which is part of VW's boomerang mode.
  4. Pat, Here are the steps to recreate the problem: Open a new blank document. Set the view to front. Draw a 1" x 1" square. Extrude the square 1". Draw a 45? line from the square's bottom right corner upward and about 2" long. Select the extrusion. Click the rotation tool. Have it set for Standard Rotation Mode. Click the bottom right corner of the extrusion. Click the top right corner of the extrusion. Start dragging to rotate the extrusion's top right corner so it will touch the line. Zoom in on the line. On my Mac I press command spacebar to do this. Release the rotation when your cursor touches the line. The results should be the extrusion rotated and touching the line. Not so when I do it! I have my VW prefs set to Click drag drawing, so how yours is set will determine your click sequence. Please let me know if these instructions are clear so you can reproduce this problem. Thanks.
  5. Rotating a 3D object and zooming in to "land" on a certain point does not work (for me). It does work with 2D objects.
  6. Is there a way to rotate a texture that's applied to many objects? I'm applying wood texture. RW seems to always put the grain the wrong way. It's not a very good woodworker! You would think the eyedropper tool would be able to do this, but it only "paints" the texture, not the rotation. Selecting multiple objects doesn't allow for a global rotation change, nor does grouping. Setting the class texture does not have a rotation option either.
  7. Anymore that came with RW that I have missed?
  8. I'm looking for RW fabric textures. I found some in the file Textures_Interior Finishes.vwx, but I'm looking for more. Are there more fabric textures in other RW library or resource filesd? The fabric textures I found are fine, but I would like more variety of color. Is there's a way to change the color without losing the texture?
  9. I don't know about that. Right on with your comments. What good is ExtrudeAlongPath if you can't predict the results, and the results are not precise.
  10. ExtrudeAlongPath is obviously a function that could be improved upon greatly. My opinion is that it's not easy to use, and the results are somewhat unpredictable. For now, my solution to being able to easily edit the path is to copy and paste my original 2D path and profile, and save them so I can use them to remake my extrusion.
  11. Pat, I tried this and my path has become a NURBS curve, I want the original 2D polygon back. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the move path suggestion. I knew that, but had forgotten it! I do think it would be easier and more intuitive to have a third step in the creation process to define where the path meets the profile.
  12. Please make Extrude Along Path better. Being able to define where the profile meets the path would help a lot. And then when doing an ungroup of the shape it sure would be nice if the path and profile reappeared as their original objects. I use Extrude Along Path, but I have to say it is almost useless to me in it's current state.
  13. How do I remove the default textures from the file. They don't appear in the resource browser, but they do appear in the OIP, render, texture list.
  14. I bought a new iMac and migrated my VW 2008 application over from my old G5. It works, but I'm just wondering if I should reinstall VW 2008 fresh. Does the VW 2008 installer do different installations based on the type of chip in the computer?
  15. OK. I got it to work. The solution... Don't let the computer go to sleep durning the update.
  16. It did not update to the latest build. That's all I know!
  17. http://download2.nemetschek.net/io/m/eb06ef8f85dc/1300_76681_82613_Mac_eng.zip
  18. I tried updating to SP2 (82613), but it fail to make the change from the older SP2. I have a new iMac on order, so I'll do the more current update when I install VW on that machine.
  19. What is the file "VW debug output.txt" which keeps appearing in my HD folder? The text in the file is: gList is valid! gList is valid! gList is valid! Array contents after Y-axis sort: 0: TopLeft: (291.292646, 859.617646), BottomRight: (323.042646, 850.092646) 1: TopLeft: (291.292646, 1083.455146), BottomRight: (323.042646, 1073.930146) 2: TopLeft: (291.292646, 1569.230146), BottomRight: (323.042646, 1559.705146) 3: TopLeft: (291.292646, 2074.055146), BottomRight: (323.042646, 2064.530146) gList is valid! gList is valid!
  20. I have a similar problem with the main window opening under the pallets. It's related to my dock being set on the right side of my screen. As the dock grows and shrinks based on the number of applications running, the VW pallets no longer think they are at the right edge of the screen. Ethan, where's your dock? Try hiding it and test VW that way. I suspect your problem is related to your dock position.
  21. I absolutely agree. This has been discussed before. I bought Architect solely to get the Navigation Palette. I use none of the other Architect features. That cost me $500!
  22. Thanks NNA... SP2 fixes the major issues I have had (at least as far as I can tell so far with 2 minutes of use!). The width arrow is a nice way to tell which way a rectangle is oriented.
  23. I'm using the Architect workspace, and it's not there as a standard. I checked the other workspaces, not there either. Like I said, it was available to add to my workspace.
