  1. peter worked first time and look great many thanks
  2. thanks,i thought that may be the case....
  3. i have set my design up to render final interior on the background settings but i would like to overlay a sketch outline which i have done on the foreground settings but the lines go into the solid model and show through the other side is there anyway to apply a sketch style as a hidden line effect so i hide the line behind but still get the effect i am after
  4. When I have built my model prior to render, I then create a viewport for my views if I have modelled the design at say 1:20 scale prior to creating viewports what scale should I pick for the viewport render Is there a rule that I need to follow to decrease the rendering time in the viewport, or should I choose say 1:50 scale, would this reduce the render time prior to exporting to say a jpg. Your comments would be appreciated. I can't seem to find any tutorials that explain this
  5. hi i have been using artlantis for some 12 years and there are some great improvements in v5 however you do have to convert your existing shaders to fit into the module. the lighting and placement of logos and artwork are fantastic as you can drag and drop the files straight onto the scene.....however i am a new user to renderworks and have to say that the renders i think are far superior to artlantis...i have just rendered a design using a lot of glass and its just.....fantastic i am on a steep learning kerb in renderworks trying to get the lighting right as in artlantis your in real time so you can see the changes on screen...with renderworks you have to re-render all the time i think this will improve once i master the lighting..i think theres a place for both program dependent on the project if you want speed..artlantis... every time...if you want realism give renderworks a go its worth it
  6. having used artlantis for 12 years, and now trying to learn renderworks it seems such long winded way, we have to apply a logo or decal onto a surface, is there a quicker way than going through the render info.....i just wished i could drag and drop the logo onto a surface and then instigate the alpha channel!
  7. would be nice if we could drag and drop a logo or decal onto a surface and then apply the alpha channel or take out the background of the decal on screen
  8. thanks bruce no it was 2014 and i just can't work this one out but i will try it again when i start a new job.....many thanks i will certainly try the book you recommend......
  9. hi bruce first time post so sorry about the 2 questions so created a rectangle 3000mm x 1000mm and then applied a rounded corner fillet of 250mm dia and then extruded to 150mm thick applied a decal and then rendered, although in wireframe you could see the corners when rendered they appear sq as the original rectangle of 3000 x 1000, as i could not work why this was happening i did the same command again to create the shape applied the decal and saved it as a symbol....this solved the problem on the original i also converted the shape to 3d polys and that worked but of course i lost the decal this is strange i have been using VW for 12 years but use artlantis as my render package, so i am on a steep learning kerb as i want to use renderworks as my main render package, the results are far superior. many thanks
  10. I am also having problems with applying decals in 2014 I have applied a decal and tried to take a white background just to reveal the black lettering with great problems however the same usage in 2013 works every time with no problem.....
  11. I have created a shape 3000mm x 1000mm 100 mm thick with rounded corners this shows up in wireframe correctly but when rendered in final quality renderworks the shape turns to sq corners.....has anyone experienced this problem
