  1. Hey everyone... I know this is a long shot but I'm hoping someone might have some experience. The office I'm working for is using PowerCADD 9 as their drafting software (ugh, I know...) I'm trying to convince them to switch to VW but I have to demonstrate that the two programs play well together. I'm having no difficulties importing PCadd generated DWGs into VW, but I'm having trouble with VW generated DWG imports into PC. I've attached two screenshots showing 1) the VW sheet I'm exporting to DWG and 2) the resulting import into PowerCadd. The DWG is being cropped when imported and I can't determine why... The page setup and the scale of both documents is the same. Thanks!
  2. Thanks guys... looks like my screen resolution isn't high enough. Will just have to adapt!
  3. Hey, Is there anyway to resize the blue reshape handles? They're so massive I can hardly see the object I'm selecting. Thanks!
  4. Hi, I'm thinking that this is a bug but perhaps someone can give me some suggestions. I just recently upgraded to VW2016 (some people in the office are still running 2011) I'm currently working on a file that was generated in VW2011 that I opened in 2016. I've set up a renderworks camera for rendering, however when I'm in 3D I'm unable to select objects. It's as though the objects are being generated at a different origin and the handles aren't linked to the objects I'm seeing, some are even off the screen (example, the blue handles in bottom left hand corner in the first image are for furniture located in the middle of the house in plan.) In order to "adjust" the handles to where they should be, I have to "nudge" all the objects which places the handles back in the correct spot. (see photo #2) This only seems to fix things temporarily as switching layers resets the bug and I'm back to square one again. Any thoughts?
  5. Thank you! I guess I'll just have to adjust my working style. It's a shame as it seems fast renderworks is almost useless now... for me at least.
  6. Hi, I recently upgraded from 2015 to 2016. Nothing else has changed. I'm still running same OS X (10.9.5) I have a 3.5 GHz Processor, 32GB memory, with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB graphics card. I've noticed though that "fast renderworks" is spitting out terrible quality renderings in this new version. I can't see where I adjust the renderworks setting for this as I've never had to tweak things before. Can someone help? I've attached 2015 FRW and 2016 FRW samples Thanks,
  7. Hey all, I've just installed VW 2014 and have installed the most recent service pack. I'm also running a new iMac 27" with Mavericks. I just started rendering elevations of my project and have noticed that hidden line is acting up as I'm able to see through the wall to objects inserted in the wall behind. I'm also seeing the ends of wall intersections etc. The wall type is currently unstyled but is filled and on an exterior wall class that has a fill (set to use on creation). Does anyone have any thoughts? I know hidden line isn't perfect but it's never been like this before...
  8. Thanks Tamsin. I would have never expected that 1000 Lumens wouldn't be sufficient but I have read that they've changed some setting because of the new C4D engine. I'll give it a try!
  9. Hi, Thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately I've tried that an it still seems to be rendering black... I'm completely stumped.
  10. Hi everyone, I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. I've only just come across the convert to area light feature in VW2011. I've drawn 2 circles, (which I intend to appear as simple pot lights) and have converted them to area lights. However, when I render the scene the circular surfaces render as black. They do appear to have a slight glow around the edges though (as if they light was emitting from the wrong side of the geometry towards the ceiling instead of down at the ground) Any suggestions? Thanks!
  11. Hey everyone. I have been using VW2011 for a while but have just started using it as a 3D tool. I have been drawing slab elements and stairs etc by extruding the geometries (the shapes are too complex to use the standard tools) All objects have a solid fill. However, when I set the view to Top/Plan I am able to see every line in the geometry (as if the object were transparent) which has made reading the drawing extremely confusing. I'm not able to achieve an orthogonal plan view without having to re-draw 2d objects on top of the 3d images. I realize that I can make every object a symbol, allowing me to edit both the 2d and 3d appearance however when I enter 2d editing mode the 3d geometry disappears entirely! Is there anyway around this? Thanks!
  12. Hi, Thanks for your reply. I realize that you can link lineweights and classes but this tool was much simpler (avoiding multiple classes for drawing simple assemblies etc) I'll do some further research and if I find anything I'll be sure to post!
  13. Hi, This is my first post. While I'm fairly familiar with VW (currently running VW 2011 on mac) I'm not as versed with the vectorscript options. The last firm that I was with had set up a customized tool (as far as I know there isn't a built-in feature for this) that linked line-weights with colours. The list then showed up in it's own separate tool window. Has anyone run a script like this who'd be able to walk me through the process step-by-step? Thanks.
