atimmions at tech support helped me. i deleted all font mappings and it kind of reset its self. also i updated plugin objects.

ok but it happens on two computers. i am home to day but last friday i was in the office when i noticed the font problem. and why does it not change my general text? only dims, section/elevation markers, door markers, window markers & stair markers are affected. things that the system makes.

font is times have not run any utilities q imaging is on i just set the file to atimmons in tech support if you need to look at it

still not working! when i edit my section marker for any reason even if i don not change anything it changes my font to Futura. this does not show up in my mapping box. we need to have a way to LOCK in only the fonts we use for a drawing!!

all my dims and section markers have changed to some other font when i opened in 2008. is there a global way of changing back to my font and then locking it? im trying to find the font mapping thing. i must have over looked it when i opened up. what do i do now?

Robert, i think we need to approach the DTM from a new angle. you and jeff should look and all the items placed on & in the earth, sidewalks, curbs, ADA sidewalks access, drains & piping, roads, parking, footings, slabs, gabions, foundations and anything else. then make very good tools to make those items. THEN make it so the DTM melts upwards to fill in around those items. then when you cut a section the dtm shows and earth fill around those items.

progress on DTM the project is a 3 acre site. the total for the project sofar is 115 hours to make 9 sheets: c0 cover c0.1specs c1 existing c2 proposed c2.1 & c2.2 enlarged plans c4 details c6 camera shots e4 electrical the stage of the project is: cost review w/ client the client really liked the camera shot sheet. now they know what they are getting. i still can not see how the bed tool can give me a twisty slope, hence i did not do paving in 3d. the stake tool really works well. if you really want to control the DTM use the stake tool. i used 800+. some are from the survey and the rest are filler or for proposed. it always works. if you get a "blowout" just add some more stake objects until blowout disappears. a warning: the "snapshot" of a DTM disappears for no reason so you have to make them again. do so just before you print. also, i used a special keynote system that zoomed things along. this was the topic of another post.

attached is an an update of a project i am working on. i am trying really hard to stick w/ 3d modeling. i am using the stake tool to control everything. see "layoutstakes" the file "pavementbreakthrough" is my attempt to add pavement to the dtm. it is a 3d poly where i have set the vertices to the proper elevation and then raised the object 0.1' above the dtm, but i still get breakthrough. sometime ago someone suggested using the plantbed tool. would this work in such a twisted slope? also we need a way to attach an associative dimension to the stake tools that show distance AND slope. maybe w/ a little arrow pointing down. the road access shown was figured out by SLOPE. then we would need to be able to type in the slope we want and the stake would adjust in height.

they are a polyline. i went in a deleted some vertex and it made some of the spots go away

that is the problem. i do not know nor do i normaly lable things as such, except for viewports. so now i have to find this obscure object named 2/A6.3 it is most certianly not a viewport i already checked. what can i do?

look, we are going all over the place on this topic. here is the point. the section viewports have the ability to link the names we give them to our section & interior elevation markers on the plans. hence, it is very important to call your section vp by the name you want your section marker to display i.e. 2/A6.3 (if your using the auto naming feature) if it was not a section vp then i would have just done 2/A6.3x and be done with it. if i want to call a viewport 2/A6.3 then the computer should read it as 2/A6.3.vp (this is the unique name for all you computer programers) for all the people who make construction drawings: we do not see 2/A6.3.vp it in the dialog box nor do we see 2/A6.3.vp at the interior elevation marker that shows up on our plan we just see 2/A6.3 that is want needs to be done.

i knew someone was going to say that! soooo then i should be able to name my viewport Darryl and some other object Darryl thanks for agreeing w/ me : )

oook, that is like saying that if you name your dog dave then you can not name your son dave. if you have 2 sons named dave, i could see where that would be a problem. if the computer can figure out the difference between a layer named dave and a saved sheet named dave then i am sure it can do it with viewports and other objects.

yea that unique name is 2/A6.3 as a Viewport show me were i have another viewport named 2/A6.3. see posted images above. i do not have a viewport named 2/A6.3 so what in my file is named 2/A6.3? a symbol? Layer? saved sheet? if i was trying to name 2 viewports 2/A6.3 then i could see why i would get an error message. but i am not. something is still wrong.

look, i do not have 2 viewports w/ the same name. i agree that would be bad, but there should not be any conflict w/ anything else w/ the same name. if you ran a search then you could see 2 item w/ the same name, one is a vp and the other is something else. the point is, my vp name is referenced to the elevation key marker that is on the plan and the next interior elevation is 2/A6.3. i have not other vp named 2/A6.3 something is wrong.

im trying to name a vp 2/A6.3 and it tells me i have something already named 2/A6.3. but i do not. please see attached. what am i missing?

i made symbols for highway route markers. at times when i open my file they get screwed up. then i have to go into the symbol and select text, set to another size then set it back to point 6. this seems to correct the text. any ideas as to why it is doing this?
