Storm Water Runoff Calculation

yasin2ray

Question

Calculate storm water runoff flow rate (Using the formula Q = CIA (C = Coefficient of runoff, I = rainfall intensity and A = drainage area)

  • Define a drainage area
  • Assign a coefficient of runoff to each area per land-cover type (hardscape, building roof, lawn area, gravel, etc)
  • Input a known rainfall intensity, run the Q=CIA calculation for each drainage area (note, the drainage areas may be different than the land cover areas so this would need to use the intersection of the areas)
  • Use the generated flow rate information to size drainage pipes.
