v12 Crashes

Recommended Posts

I've experienced frequent crashes that appear to result from nested, repeated symbols. After converting the repeated symbol to a group, the crashes still occur.

The crash occurs upon exiting symbol edit. It also happens when deleting the symbol, or even when substituting a symbol. It happens upon using the update PIO command.

Up until this morning, when I tried to crate a multi-story symbol, the file was fine.

There is much in the file that was generated in v11.5.1.

Of course, it is impossible not to have some nested symbols, since windows and doors in walls are PIO symbols.

There are no other visible apps running; restarted many times.

Wasted three hours already this AM, and wonder what to do.

Any ideas?

It seems to have been file size or complexity that VW couldn't deal with.

Painstakingly, first, objects were deleted, then the classes and layers on which they resided were deleted. Ofcourse, it could have been one of the objects that was deleted that was the culprit, but who knows?

The file started out at 136MB, and ended up at 86MB. So much for 4GB memory (if file size was the problem)!
