11.5 Quirks in OSX network home folder usage

Recommended Posts

For several years now, I've had four CAD stations using VW 9, 10 and 11, where the users log in with OS X's network home folders on a common server. All was fine.

The updater to 11.5, however, has proven quirky. On one machine updated to 11.5, the network user "identity" launches it just fine, as it had for years. But on another machine (or using a different network use), VW 11.5 refuses to launch. Ironically, logging in as the 'unlucky' network user, on the machine that the 'lucky' user has, 11.5 refuses to launch. Yet, when the 'lucky' user logs in on that machine as his 'network self' 11.5 launches fine. What's up with this?

11.5 will launch just fine in local user mode (which we don't use), on all machines, so I know all the software is there. but for that one user, it refuses to function for a network user.

Anybody out there have any experience with VW 11.5 and network users (via network home folders)? Having all stations function in local-user mode is not an acceptable workaround.

TIA

vw_v,

I thought of that too, although it doesn't even wake up enough to tell me there are no other available licenses (as it occasionally does when I have five people using four numbers)

To circumvent that, I had all users quit out so that no one was in it, whether v10 or v11. Same non-launch.

It's acting like there's something more primal missing, some major nugget that it uses when launching, which it just doesn't like (or find?) when launching as that network user.
