td4stage
I plan on putting 20 seats of sl + rw v11 in a lab. From what I've gathered there is a "network" usb dongle that attaches to one of the computers in the lab. If I wanted to move a couple of the above seats to a few different computers on campus (in a different room), would the dongle still recognize that. Does it sniff the entire network, or just a sub net? Thanks in advance, Quote Link to comment
Guest
Patrick, The dongle works on the same subnet it's attached to, however you can have computers outside the dongle find the dongle. Luckily, the dongle doesn't go find VW - VW goes and finds the dongle. This eliminates unnecessary network checking in the event that you need it to stretch across subnets. The network dongle can be attached to a computer in the lab that all the other computers can see, or it can be on a server somewhere else. You may be better off attaching it to a computer that is not freely available to anyone in the classroom - this eliminates the dongle being stolen/lost/throw away by the janitor/etc. Quote Link to comment
