danakasind
So my buddy is designing a house and we're wondering, "what is the difference between VW Spotlight, Architect, and Mechanical."? We are using Spotlight to design not only his house but a number of other projects. We're lighting designers but we like to dabble in pretty much everything else. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Spotlight is designed for theatrical lighting. You get scene design tools, such as wall, window, door, stair, etc. You also get instrument lighting library and gobo library files. Architect is designed for commercial and residential building. You get walls, doors, windows here also, but you get more architect specific tools such as issue manager, more objects for house design (plumbing, fireplace, campanile, applicances, etc). Mechanical is geared towards the 2d and 3d mechanical engineer. Here you get nuts and bolts and other mechanical elemets needed to compile a machine. You also get load balancing commands, gears, and other things necessary to compile a good machine element.
