danakasind
I recently revised a group of symbols that I use on a regular basis to have textures associated with them. This is so I can change the color of these items without having to edit all the symbols individualy. The theory works well but each time I insert any one of the 4 revised symbols I get a window saying that "this texture already exists in the current document Would you like to replace it rename the one being imported or use the existing one." Is there a way to stop this warning from popping up every time I insert any one of those symbols, or am I just going about this the wrong way? All I need to be able to do is change the color of 4 symbols with relative ease. Can anyone help??? Quote Link to comment
Guest
You are getting the message because the name of the texture resource is already imported into the drawing. When playing a symbol from a library file, it's importing the symbol and all components in the symbol. One way to resolve the problem is to edit the symbol in the master file so the textures in the symbol have a different name than the original texture. You won't get thet error message. The other alternative is to rename the texture resource already in the document to another name. Since it sounds like you are using the 4 symbols on a regular basis, it will be easier if you do the 4 symbols off the bat instead of trying to remmeber to change the texture name for every file. Of course, if the texuture that is in the symbol is not being used by other objects, delete the texture in the texture section of the RB. Quote Link to comment
