Whilst I have many frustrations with my latest version 2016 of Vectorworks which have never successfully been resolved in my opinion I would like to see a capability of cutting a section through my buildings that actually show the construction and not just a solid red mass.

This is already possible, select the section viewport, then click "Advanced Section Properties" in the Object Info Palette. In the Attributes tab enable "Separate Cross Sections" and check Use Attributes of Original Objects. (this should allow showing the 2D fills for solid objects) Then under the Display tab, check "Show Wall, Slab and Roof Components."
