Jimmy Lawlor
Hello All! I need a 2D section of a light that I have a 3D symbol for. I was trying to figure out if it's possible to put the symbol in the drawing, choose 'left' view, and then somehow grab the resulting view of the light and turn it into a 2d symbol (or group, or individual lines...I don't care). Does anyone have a trick for this? Best, --Jimmy Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted May 17, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 17, 2016 You can possibly cut a section viewport of it, then convert the viewport to polygons and use that geometry. if not that, then Auto-Hybrid might be able to make a more usable 2D object for you: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1048/Using+Auto+Hybrid+Objects Quote Link to comment
RickR
How about Modify> Convert> Copy to Lines for a basic 2D view. It's not a section but does what you described. View> Clip cube might be handy as well. Some cleanup is likely in order, especially if you have lots of curves that generate a mess of little 2D lines. Quote Link to comment
