Ignore lights in OpenGL Render Settings

Kaare Baekgaard

Question

If I place spotlights and point lights in a scene, I cannot use OpenGL on that scene, because it renders very different from Renderworks and usually results in an almost black screen.

So in the OpenGL Render Settings, I wish I had an option that makes OpenGL ignore all light objects, except perhaps a heliodome, so that I could still see and edit the geometry of any scene in OpenGL.

This is probably because OpenGL only allows 8 light objects, so if you have around 20+, your model will be dramatically under-lit in that mode. Submitting request now.

In the meantime this can be mitigated with the Ambient Light setting in the View > Lighting menu somewhat, as well as by using the Visualization palette to quickly shut off all or all but one light source.
