MrBigote
I created an object in 2D containing an oval, straight lines and polylines. I want to subtract a section that is a simple radius. When I do so, my polylines are deleted. I tried converting them to NURBS, but then I can't extrude them. If I convert the whole object to NURBS after extrsion, I can't subract. I make my radius by creating a circle and extruding it. Also, a selected object doesn't show it's x, y ,x position in the object info palette. You might have guessed, I'm new to the 3d game. thanks, John R Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 1, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 1, 2014 Most likely you will need to make sure the object you want to remove from those other shapes is on top, then use Modify > Clip Surface instead. Then you can deselect all, select the top object and move it away, it should leave a hole in its shape in all the objects below. Quote Link to comment
MrBigote
I get the message, "illegal object(s) selected" when I use Clip Surface. Subtract Solids works but my polylines disappear. The oval and straight lines have the shape subtracted. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 2, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 2, 2014 Send the file you're working with (before performing the operation) at tech@vectorworks.net and I can have a look. Certain kinds of objects can not be clipped/subtracted. Quote Link to comment
