  1. I get the message, "illegal object(s) selected" when I use Clip Surface. Subtract Solids works but my polylines disappear. The oval and straight lines have the shape subtracted.
  2. I created an object in 2D containing an oval, straight lines and polylines. I want to subtract a section that is a simple radius. When I do so, my polylines are deleted. I tried converting them to NURBS, but then I can't extrude them. If I convert the whole object to NURBS after extrsion, I can't subract. I make my radius by creating a circle and extruding it. Also, a selected object doesn't show it's x, y ,x position in the object info palette. You might have guessed, I'm new to the 3d game. thanks, John R
  3. It's so easy if you know how. Thanks. I was expecting an email if someone answered and didn't check back until now.
  4. In 2D, how do I combine polylines & lines into a fillable object. When I select a series of polylines & lines (all forming a closed system) and use Modify>Combine Into Surface and click the paint bucket inside the closed collection of poly lines and lines, adding a fill doesn't work. The fill still runs through the midpoint of the polyline, which is always outside the "object" I have drawn.
  5. I downloaded Bob Wagner's unfold plug-ins. He hasn't tried them on 2011 yet, and it's going to take me a little bit of time to see if they will work in 2011, and then to learn to use it. I will probably still be using the old fashioned graphic method of developing patterns for a while. I do use VW 2D for that now. Might have to do my own plug-in, when I learn how. Bob is using the plug-ins for different and more complex shapes than I use. I am doing shapes like eyebrow gables on curves roofs, and mitered corners for parabolic curves.
  6. I would think the problem for the "C" splines could be solved using 2D. Create your curve using the polyline tool or arcs and lines. The object info box gives the perimeter for any curve. Just add it up and your work piece would be 6" x the sum of the perimeters.
  7. I am looking for a plug in to generate flat patterns from a 3D surface? I think there used to be such an animal. Does anyone know, one way or the other? Thanks, John R
  8. Thank you. I wasn't aware of the offset tool. I did spend some time in help searching for "offsetting a polyline". I just tried a repeat search and I should have found it the first time.
  9. Is it possible, in 2D, to create a parallel polyline from an existing one?
