Vectorworks & Terminal Services

I need to run Vectorworks 9.0.1 on a Windows 2000 Server, but need to be able to access it via Terminal Services. At the moment it works on the the server but only comes up in Demo mode when I connect to the Server via Terminal Services.

Can anyone help??

You are getting demo mode because the application was not installed correctly.

When installing 901, if you are installing additional IP products, select YES at the prompt that asks you that question. If you are not, it is important to select NO. If you ARE installing IP products such as Architect, Landmark, Mechanical, Spotlight, then after completing the install from CD 1, you need to enter CD 2 and complete the install.

If any of the above is not performed correctly, you will get demo mode.

Remove the installation of VW, then reinstall making sure the dialog boxes are carefully read and executed accordingly.

Please note, we have not tested VW to run on a terminal service server environment at the current time.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried that and it didnt work. It works fine when you actually sit at the server, its just through terminal services it does work, its as if when your in a terminal services session, it cant find the dongle.? Does this help?

Do you have a dongle version of VW?

I don't know if you'll be able to use a dongle version of VW thru terminal services as the dongle needs to be inserted into the computer you are running VW at.

You may want to contact your distributor for more information on that subject.

Yes, it is the dongle version. Isnt the version of vectorworks determined by the serial number? If we had a different serial number which doesnt tie in the dongle, would that work?

Yes and No.

Depending on who your distributor is, they decide if they are going to use dongle versions or non-dongle versions. If your distributor is one that will only sell dongle versions of VW, you probably aren't going to be able to get a non-dongle version. It's worth talking to them about it at least.
