jbresner
I have a equilateral triangle with one of it's sides lying parallel to the x-axis. I'm trying to duplicate this triangle and scale it smaller and perfectly within the original. I don't know the percentage of the scale, just that the new triangle is 0.5" offset (the space between the outer old triangle and the inner new triangle is 0.5" ). Is there an easy way to do this? Marc
Use the offset tool. I'm not sure where it's located because I use a custom workspace. It's probably under the tool menu. This offsets perpindicular to the face. Hope this helps MB Quote Link to comment
Guest
The offset tool is located in the Editing Palette. Select the triangle you want to make a copy of. Click on the Offset Tool. In the mode bar is a Preferences button. Click on this to bring up the Offset Prefs dialog box. Enter in .5" here and click on OK. Select the Offset by distance mode button (first) if not already selected. Click on the inside of the triangle since you want the smaller triangle to be inside of the larger one. You are now done!
