kumoro
Hi all, I am relatively new to Vectorworks 2012. Maybe this already been posted somewhere, but I just can't find it. Just straight to my problem. I can't figure out how to set limits (workspace size) in Vectorworks. I just moved from AutoCAD, which has command "limits". Why I ask this because when I zoom out, my drawing disappears, and it really hard to locate it, somewhere in the workspace. I use MacBook Air, 1.8GHz intel i7 with 4GB DDR 1333 MHz OS Snow Leopard 10.7.3 Thank you, Kumoro Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
You can't. There are two buttons on the view bar to zoom in on the page or to zoom in on all objects/selected objects. The best way to draw is around the center/origin of the document, and never move this origin to avoid problems. Edited July 2, 2012 by DWorks Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
The best way to draw is around the center/origin of the document, and never move this origin to avoid problems. Take this advice! Using real life coordinates is an Autodesk thing but usually leads to problems in all other CAD apps (incl. Revit!) In addition to this if you need to do perspective views you will have large problems if you are not drawing near the origin. I usually keep one file (with for example my situation) that has the correct orientation and coordinates, which if needed can be used as an xref or can be xrefed into. Quote Link to comment
kumoro
Thank you for your your advice, But if, I mistakenly zoom out, how can I find the center/origin? Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
But if, I mistakenly zoom out, how can I find the center/origin? You can zoom in on page, if you never move the page (which also should better never done.) Or you can zoom on objects, if you already drawn some. Quote Link to comment

Zoom to Page, or switch on your rulers and find it that way.......if you then want to find your objects, cmd (ctrl) A to select everything and then Fit to Objects.
