It would be good to be able to select an object to rotate, select the axis of rotation and then drag a point on the object such that the object rotates around the selected axis. it would work similar to the 3D view rotation tool but with a fixed axis.
Maybe an extension of the tool would be to able to rotate around a point and to set the final rotation to the location of a second point.
