VectorWorks Users Win 2007 FLASLA Design Awards

Columbia, Maryland (March 27, 2008) ? Two VectorWorks users have won a 2007 Design Award from the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (FLASLA). Morris Architects received the Award of Excellence for their project, ?Niter?i Centro Masterplan 2026,? and Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin, Inc. took home the Award of Merit for ?Florida Southern College: A Landscape Master Plan.? The two firms, both located in Orlando, won their awards in the Planning and Analysis category.

The Niter?i Centro Masterplan by Morris Architects and Project Landscape Architect Todd McCurdy, ASLA, establishes a pattern for managed growth within the Niter? city center and, within that, identifies and creates catalytic growth opportunities. The master plan identifies new opportunities for development that blend with the needs of Niter?i, a city outside Rio de Janeiro in Brasil. The FASLA Award of Excellence recognizes a project that demonstrates the inspired use of landscape architectural practices in an imaginative combination that adds to the body of the landscape architecture profession, and is truly exceptional, unique, and innovative, going beyond achieving its defined purpose.

FLASLA Award of Merit winners Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin, Inc., lead by Project Landscape Architect Peter C. Sechler, ASLA, designed their landscape master plan for Florida Southern College to reconcile the many historic buildings and future development needs within a rediscovered sense of campus place and social interaction. The Award of Merit is bestowed in recognition of projects that demonstrate the inspired use of landscape architectural practices.

The FLASLA Design Awards celebrate the talent and diversity of Florida Landscape Architects and their contributions to the profession?s body of knowledge. The Planning and Analysis category recognizes efforts involving the wide range of professional planning and analysis activities that lead to, and guide, landscape architecture design.

?Landscape architects have proven their ability to lead design teams and to provide environmentally and culturally sensitive solutions to difficult problems,? points out FLASLA president Mary N. Bates. ?These awards are a testament to the amazing work being completed by Florida?s landscape architecture firms.?
