Plant 3d symbol

Im having a bit of a problem figuring out how to associate a 3d symbol (made from an image prop )with a new plant.

I read that the symbols are 'from the resource browser', but the 3d symbols available from the 3d plant pull down menu are not the ones listed in the resource browser, nor are the 3d plant symbols in the RB available on the plant 3d pull down menu.

Any ideas?

In 12.x the 3d symbol has to be in a vectorworks file located in the folder Library/Defaults/Plants.. The library folder I am referring to is in the vectorworks program folder. I don't have the full path with me but the names are fairly self explanatory once you get this far and it is in the manual.

In vw 2008 this is much simpler. Simple select the plant object, right click on it and choose Edit. Select the 3d graphics, and place the image prop. Exit and you are done.

The file that dspearman is referring to is located at the following directory from the root of the VectorWorks folder:

Libraries\Defaults\Plants - 3D Symbols\

The filename is 3DPlantSymbols.mcd and if you add a new image prop to the file then save it, you will see it in the 3D Graphics image popup on the Edit Definition dialog.
