WilliamK
The wide flange beam sizes provided in VW 2008 do not contain all the beams available in the AISC Manual of Steel Construction, 13th ed. (current). For example, page 1-26, bottom 7 lines show W4x13, W5x16, W5x19, W6x16, W6x12, W6x9, W6x8.5. The WF Beam tool lists only 6 beams in that range, omitting the 8.5 beam. This persists through the available shapes. I noticed the problem because I have a W21x55 beam that does not appear in the WF Beam tool either. On page 1-18, W21x93, 83, 73, 68, 62, 55, 48, 57, 50 and 44 appear, but VW omits W21x55 and W21x48. This is very annoying. Could we have this addressed promptly? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Could we have this addressed promptly? Bill, thanx for the heads up ... i'll just edit the includes Data file with a Text Editor and insert those beam descriptors. FYI, the Plugin uses each item's parameters listed in the tab delimited includes Data file. Quote Link to comment
WilliamK
Good suggestion! I assumed it was encoded in the software somewhere. I will have to check the file format. If it is close to AISCs Excel database of shapes, it might be easy to add all the missing shapes. There might be quite a few. --Bill Quote Link to comment
