MaxStudio
I've create a simple rectangular structure and placed a gable roof on top. I then used the "Fit Walls to Roof" option. The side walls fit to the roof perfectly. However, the walls at the gable end fit to the roof only to the bearing height and continues flat across. The rest of the wall is created as an additional component of the roof. Now this is my problem. I have a double hung window that is placed in the wall. The window cuts a hole in the original wall but it does not cut a hole through the new wall created as part of the roof object. Does anyone know why the window does not cut through the new wall? Does anyone know how to get the window to cut a hole in the new wall? Quote Link to comment
MaxStudio
ok took care of it! apparently you have to click on the roof object and then go to the object info box. scroll all the way to the bottom of the object info box and uncheck "create gable end walls" This will remove the walls that were created as part of the roof. Next, you just have to select the original end wall again and do another "Fit Wall to Roof" and now it looks perfect. Quote Link to comment
Tom G.
Perhaps it's time to remove Create gable end walls? I'm always having to manage deleting them since Fit walls to roof is so effective. In any event, out of the box it should come preset as unselected. Quote Link to comment
