Frank O'Kobrick
(I listed this question in the generaI disscusion as well. Sorry if this is a problem.) I was using the RenderBitmap tool over a 3D model that was rendered in Hidden Line & I noticed whenever I draw a polygon over the RenderBitmap image the Hidden Line rendering shows through. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a documented feature & if so why doesn't it work when the 3D model is in other rendering modes such as Final Renderworks? It is actually a pretty cool effect. Guest
I deleted the post over in the General Discussion. As a general rule of thumb, post a specific topic once on a forum. Typically, people read multiple forums and you post wil be viewed. Quote Link to comment
Guest
If you are drawing a polygon over an object, such as a render bitmap object AND the polygon is set to a NONE fill, you will see anything beyond the newly created object. If you want the newly created poly to mask out, or stack on top of the bitmap, make sure the poly has a solid fill in the Attribute Palette when the object is selected. Quote Link to comment
Frank O'Kobrick
I think you missunderstood what I was trying to say. When I draw a solid fill over the the RenderBitmap image, it cuts a hole through the image so that you can see the hidden line model underneath. The model is created through a layer link, this may have something to do w/ it. Quote Link to comment

Guest
OR ... better yet - take a screen shot of it and attach it to a post here. Quote Link to comment
Frank O'Kobrick
After looking at this some more, it looks like anytime you render a model in hidden line any 2D objects draw later actually drop below the hidden line rendering. I'm not sure how to attach a picture to a post. I'll try this. Picture 2.png Quote Link to comment

Frank O'Kobrick
While we are on this subject, is it possible to edit a render bitmap? When I try to clip surface or reshape the render bitmap I get a message that this object has no edit behavior. That is how I discovered this issue to begin with. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Great work Frank ...love the 'detail' effect of the solid fill object ! Quote Link to comment
Frank O'Kobrick
Thanks islandmon, what I was trying to do originally was to draw a render bitmap circle over the HL model to highlight an area for special instruction to the builder. I did not realize that render bitmaps cannot be edited. I was able to work it out using this unexpected behavior to get something like this. Quote Link to comment
