lulu
Walls with a z of 0 in the object info show on my screen with a z of -1 according to the ruler (if I look at the wall in front view, for example). I'm using Vectorworks 12.5 on a Mac. What's going on? Quote Link to comment
Guest
The layer the walls exist on has a z set to -1' Quote Link to comment
lulu
The objects are all within one layer. And it's not only walls; all objects are off relative to the ruler. The ruler just doesn't line up with the drawing. Is there any way to set the z origin of the ruler? Quote Link to comment
Guest
Edit the Layer - look at the layer z value - not the object from the Obj Info Palette or ruler. Quote Link to comment
lulu
The layer z value is 0, but objects within the layer with a z of 0 are not at 0 according to the ruler. Shouldn't the position according to the ruler and the position according to the object info be the same within a layer? Quote Link to comment
Guest
There are two other culprits: 1. The wall style has a z value assigned in the wall style definition that is -1'. 2. The objects have been moved manually -1'. Quote Link to comment
lulu
Is there any way to set the z axis on the ruler? Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
No, the ruler isn't the problem. I believe Katie has given you all the solutions to your problem. If you have checked the layer and wall style settings and they are all correct, select all of your objects and move them up 1. Quote Link to comment
lulu
Thanks for all the help. I have tried the suggestions you and Katie have given and they haven't solved the problem of the ruler not aligning with my drawing. If I move the objects up one, then I have to move every object I insert into the drawing, since they all insert at -1 according to the ruler (0 according to object info). I have checked and the layer z is O, though that wouldn't matter as long as the objects are within that layer. The wall style settings are at 0. The problem occurs with all the objects I've tried, not just walls. Quote Link to comment
G_Hannigan
This is a strange one! I can't recreate it on my setup. Do you get this problem in all drawings (including a new, empty one)? I normally have the rulers turned off - snap settings, on screen cursor cues and keyboard entry work fine for me. Sorry I couldn't help. Quote Link to comment
Guest
If that's the case, send the file to tech@nemetschek.net and someone can look at it. In the interim, move all the objects up one foot. Quote Link to comment
