  1. Please, submit a bug report for me. Thanks so much for your help. OS 10.5.6, Vectorworks 2008 Architect/Renderworks
  2. The file started in VW 11. Since then I've updated to 12, then 2008. The electrical symbols, though, were just added last week using VW 2008.
  3. In the attached file I can't change the text size on switch 112 or receptacle 32, but receptacle 36 changes just fine.
  4. Thanks for your response, Wes. And if that doesn't work? Yes, it works about 90% of the time, but I have a few switches and receptacles that won't change text size when I select a size from the drop down menu. Since I have a lot if information in the attached records, I'd rather not replace them with a new instance of the symbol (which does solve the problem). And the really weird thing is that I can change other text attributes. It's only the size that won't change. Any suggestions?
  5. Looking back through the threads, I can't find a response to this post. I'm having trouble changing the text size on some of my electrical symbols. Others change just fine, even though it's the same symbol. Is this a bug?
  6. I have recently upgraded from VW 12.5 to 2008 with OS 10.4.10 and Quicktime 7.2. The hidden line renderings in my section viewports are not rendering properly as you can see in the 2008 attachment. Can I fix this problem without going back to 12.5? lulu
  7. Yes, a footing tool would be a logical (and, even, necessary) feature for an architectural drawing program. I started out drawing my footings with a polyline, but had trouble with a curved wall which was solved easily by making the footings from the walls. Does anyone know if you can join walls of different heights and, if so, how? What criteria limit the joining of walls? I have tried to join my curved wall to my straight ones and VW won't let me do it.
  8. The "roofs" in my drawing are two extruded lines, each in a different layer. If I place my wall (in front view) between the two lines, all works fine. But for the footings I need to make, I'm stepping down 24" every 24". In this case the wall can't be placed between the two lines; it will always be above or below one of the lines at some point. I guess it won't work in that case, so I'm back to my original strategy - joining wall sections. Is there any way to join walls of different elevations if they have some elevation in common? I can't seem to join the wall sections shown in the attached file. Am I missing something?
  9. I can reshape the wall, but for something as common as a stepped footing, I thought there'd be an more straightforward way. I've attached a file showing what happens when I try to fit with the Fit Wall to Roof command. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I fit to the top and bottom at the same time or separately.
  10. I'm trying to draw stepped footings using walls. Making individual wall sections for each step works, but leaves an unsightly line in my renderings where the steps abut. A posting I saw here suggested using the Fit Walls to Roof command to contour the footing to an object drawn to shape in another layer. I can get the top or the bottom of the footing to step, but not both. Any suggestions?
  11. Hi, I've been searching through the forums and my manuals for a way to automatically add the current filename and date to my title block, to no avail. I find it hard to believe that folks enter that information manually. Am I missing something? lulu
  12. Ah, that worked - I switched from hidden line to Renderworks and the section updates in less than a minute; it was taking 20 minutes with hidden line rendering. Thank you, vsd! lulu
  13. I've just started using sections in my drawings. I find it takes a long time to create or update a section - 10-15 minutes. It's driving me crazy! Is this slow response normal? If not, what could be wrong?
  14. Thanks for all the help. I have tried the suggestions you and Katie have given and they haven't solved the problem of the ruler not aligning with my drawing. If I move the objects up one, then I have to move every object I insert into the drawing, since they all insert at -1 according to the ruler (0 according to object info). I have checked and the layer z is O, though that wouldn't matter as long as the objects are within that layer. The wall style settings are at 0. The problem occurs with all the objects I've tried, not just walls.
  15. Is there any way to set the z axis on the ruler?
