LarryAZ
When I asked "spell check" to learn it goes to the next word without an error message but the next time the same word comes up as misspelled. Running repair permission didn't help. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
The Dictionary is at \VectorWorks 12.5\Plug-Ins\Dictionaries (On Widows XP). Make sure the file isn't read only. Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Ray you were right the file was locked. It is now read/write but it still doesn't learn. It would seem that it should be a custom dictionary file. I looked for one but can't find anything. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
On Windows XP I have a file in the Dictionaries folder named UserDictionary.txt with my entries, as well as the default dictionary file. Maybe the folder is read only and VW can't create the file. Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Ok so went back to my 12.01 folder and pulled out the UserDict file and put it in my 12.5 folder. Now when I try to spell check it instantly crashes. What I don't understand is where the original went or why VW doesn't make a new one as soon as I ask it to learn. I will send the crash log to NNA but I have a feeling this shouldn't be this confusing. Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
Guest
If you updated via the internet, the same file should be in place. Check to make sure the file isn't set to read only permissions. Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
I was unable to update via the internet and had to get the DVD upgrade. The UserDict file was not there. The UserDict file from ver 12.01 was read/write permissions. As soon as I removed the file, the software does not crash and acts like it is learning (no error message) but doesn't. Sent the crash log to tech email. Quote Link to comment
Guest
This happens when you copy the dictionary file from 12 01 to the 12 5 folder? Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Yes. When I copy my old user dictionary file from 12.01 to 12.5 it will crash as soon as I hit spell check. Quote Link to comment
