Split tool operation

I wish the Split tool functioned the same as the Clip tool.

EX: The clip tool allows the user to select the desired objects to be clipped first and only clips from those objects. As far as I can tell, the Split tool splits all visible objects which means I have to temporarily Group the desired objects in order to separate them from the rest of the drawing.

Pressing the Alt key will split only selected objects.

Thanks, I just looked a little closer myself and noticed that function is called out in the mode description.

There is one other difference between the tools; the clip tool leaves polygons intact by completing the edge that is clipped, but the split tool leaves the split edge out of the polygon. EX: Draw a rectangle and split using the "Line Trim Mode" and you will be left with an open three sided polygon instead of a closed four sided polygon.

I just wish that in general the tools were more consistent in terms of how they affect the objects.

I wouldn't want the split tool to close anything it splits. I think it works by the definition of the tool.
