Spline based, real time terrains...

Tristan McMannis

Question

What would be of real use to me and my cohorts in the Knowlton School of Arch. at OSU would be a real-time terrain editor based on splines. Instead of using simple polys to define contours and then generating a symbol with AEC in Landmark, I think it would be much more accurate and intuitive for the grading process if we could define contours using splines, and then have VW generate a nurbs surface which we could select points, lines, or polys on the surface and drag, rotate, scale, whatever and see the result of changing one point on a contour in a persepctive view in real-time! I know it probably seems like a subtle difference to some, but I think it would be a lot more intuitive like modeling in real clay...only not as messy, and after I was done teaking and playing I would have a drawing of my grading plan ready to plot.
