When you reference an external Vectorworks file, changes made to the original file should be reflected in the referencing file after updating the reference. However, if you have moved, copied, or duplicated the referenced items within the referencing file, and then updated the reference, this could potentially cause issues. Always keep a backup of your files before making significant changes to your references or your project in general to prevent loss of work.
