Can't make connection to/from a copied device

I have a schematic that I have done a copy paste of an multiple existing DA's.

I am not able to make any connections to or from the copied DA's. On the copied device the little square does not appear next to the crosshair when I get near the socket.

Is making connections to a copied device not allowed?

While I was placing new objects to replace the copied ones I stumbled upon the fix for the issue.

Select the copied object and Align to Grid. Now I can connect to the copied object.
