Data import

Recommended Posts

I'm breaking the rules a bit in this process but it seems to be working except for one step.

What I'm trying to do is to import data from an already existing Lightwright file into a newly created plot. I exported the plot data (units with only inst data, positions and unit #s) into a file which I then imported into LW. I then merged this file with the existing LW data file creating a new one that now contains both the VW external ID and the LW ID. I export this from LW and everything looks fine in the data file but when I then try to reimport this into VW, it says it is importing but the units aren't updated and no orphans are created.

Any ideas?

My first thought is that you didn't link the External ID to the UID when importing in. After browsing to the file, select UID as the field. You also need to make sure that when you imported into LightWright that UID was the same field as External ID.

Let me know if that works, or if you are already doing that. If is still doesn't work, I may ask you to mail me the files and I can take a look at them.
