  1. I now work exclusively in a rotated view on all projects, and while there have been improvements to this workflow, I still find myself in an unrotated view far too often, which has caused real problems whereby colleagues have been working on a file unaware that they're in an unrotated view; this is exacerbated by projects that are rotated by a very small amount (e.g. 0.13 degrees). One is problem is that certain actions unrotate the view temporarily, such as editing a slab modifier. I don't want to be in an unrotated view when I'm editing a slab modifier, but at least it returns me to a rotated view when I exit. The other, more serious problem, is that certain sequences of work will unrotate the view permanently. For example: Start in a rotated Top/Plan view on a design layer. Go to a Section Viewport (e.g. a building elevation or section) on a Sheet and edit the Crop, Annotations, or a Design Layer (with the Navigate back to viewport option on). Exit, then head back to a Design Layer and you will see that the view is now unrotated. Only edit Section In-Place retains the rotated view. This is just one example. There are probably more. It seems to me there might be a few ways to fix this once and for all (in my order of preference): Provide a Document Preference for a permanent plan rotation. Even double-tapping the Top/Plan shortcut would leave you in a rotated view. To get into an unrotated view you would need to deactivate the Document Preference. Give us the ability to lock and unlock the plan rotation. You would need to explicitly unlock the rotated view before double-tapping the Top/Plan shortcut (or any other action for that matter) would take you to an unrotated view. Find all the actions that unrotate the view and stop them from doing it. (I don't like this this option option because could take a decade to implement fully)
  2. I've been working in Rotated Plan View exclusively for all projects for few years now, and it works great, but there're still quite a few workflow niggles that need to be ironed out to make it perfect, so I'm collating a list. Please suggest any I've missed. Many workflows will unrotate the view: e.g. editing a Roof Face, editing a Site Modifier polyline, editing a Slab modifiers, editing a Space modifier, editing an image crop, editing a PDF crop, etc. When creating Interior Elevations the viewports can be distributed badly, off the page/sheet Dimensions can sit on the wrong side of the dimension line and be upside down in a working view. If you're in a rotated view and edit a symbol from the Resource Browser, it too displays in a rotated view, which isn't necessarily desirable. Too often the rotated view is lost through a series of navigation steps. I think it would be great if we could have something a little more permanent. Perhaps a Document setting that sets the Rotated View as the default view, with a lot more hoops to jump through to reset to an unrotated view.
  3. Have Callouts always placed themselves horizontal with the page? So that if you place a Callout in a rotated plan view, it's placed rotated, horizontal with the page, rather than square with the screen? Like the attached example. I have a client whose floor plan is rotated, and all the Callouts on the design layer are square with the floor plan, but he doesn't recall ever needing to manually rotate the Callouts after placing them. I think what might have happened is that the model was rotated after the Callouts were placed. I had a look through all the projects I've done where I've rotated the building model and noticed that I didn't place any Callouts on the Design Layers, only the Sheet Layers.
  4. Last night I was trying to enter some field data and having a lot of issues with vector works existing tree tool. Trying to change any settings resulted in the selected tree either - disappearing, becoming a transparent square, becoming a transparent square with a red dotted diagonal line. Either changing from rotated top view to top view and then back to top plan view fixed to the visibility issue. Often if I touched the pan tool vector works would change from rotated top plan view to standard top plan view and shift the center of focus to a spot far off of my working area. I did have a saved view that would get me back, but this happened every time I added an existing tree, edited an existing tree, or duplicated an existing tree. This happens only in rotated plan view. Here's a breakdown of the attached video. 00: 00 in rotated plan view Select existing tree 04: 80 change DBH 07: 70 existing tree becomes blank square 11: 04 use pan tool 11: 62 Victor works moves to very off center focal point and changes to top plan view I zoom out and pan back to center the project. 22: 30 I use saved view to get back to my rotated plan view and center. 27: 66 existing tree is now visible with the updated DBH. This obviously make working with the existing trees problematic. All of this is happening only in rotated plan view. All of this is happening in multiple existing files, but not in a blank new file that I created to test... If helpful I can upload the file Exsiting tree issues.mp4
