when I insert window into a solid wall which has a fill colour the splay remains white- see attached. Is this some type of glitch as i can't see anywhere in settings to change it. The reveal lines on square openings sometimes don't appear either. VWA+RW2009 AJ

I can insert into a wall ok, but not sure what you mean about trim. I can't get the bottom rail to be thinner either although in the UK timber windows do have a step up there as a sort of weather bar otherwise water dripping on to the cill would be blown straight back up the cill into the gap between the bottom of the casement and the top of the cill. AJ

My VW palletes on the LHS of the screen quite often appear greyed out. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm having a few issues with VW2009 and my Imac so I'm not sure which is to blame.

Ah, I discovered that by putting your file into the hatch library that the groups are brought in as hatches which is cool. Is this the way hatches are made then, I mean by drawing a pattern then grouping it and putting the file into the hatch folder? AJ

I just wondered if NNA monitor this forum as Vectorworks 2009 ARW is crashing my Imac several times a day now and I'm losing time. I have repaired permissions, cleared HDD space, Archive Installed Mac OS 10.5.8 again but it's made no difference. I need someone from the company to offer advice please. All I can think to do now is reinstall Vectorworks but I'm not getting my hopes up. AJ

I have freed up space on my HDD and also repaired permissions but the freezing is still happening. It's always when using Vectorworks so short of a clean instal I'm at a loss to know what to do.

Hi Does anyone have a hatch for square flagstones arranged in a none symmetrical pattern , ie with 3 or 4 different sizes as used for patios that they would share? thanks AJ

Hi Jim, the freezes seem to be when attempting to move 2d objects and are indeed random. It's all in VWARW 2009, always a few apps open as normal, I have backed up my HDD to external disc now and have 32GB available at the moment. I am planniung to do a clean instal anyway so I'll see how things go. AJ

thanks, I tried that by using the disc utility but no change, I will try using DU when starting up from the OS DVD and see if that does anything.

Yes I'm all up to date, I don't know if it's related but the menu palletes often appear with the icons as very feint grey, that happened in VW2008 as well.

I put VWA+RW2009 on my Imac two weeks ago but I am experiencing a couple or so freezing sessions each day. I know it's Vectorworks as it doesn't happen in any other programme. I have used BVW for years but never experienced anything like this. Has anyone any suggestions please? thanks AJ

Hi, thanks I tried that but I can't find one that uses insulation batt shown as folds only square mesh , so I'm guessing that folds is not suitable perhaps due to the number of curves that would result. The square mesh is fine but the wall components are greyed out in the info box so it's not possible to edit them. The only wall style that can be edited is the 'Un-Styled' one. AJ

Is it possible to include the insulation batt 'pattern' as a wall component? AJ

I'm part way to VW2011 now having bought VWARW2009 from an existing first licence user. After registration transfer I intend to seek out the upgrade options although they are certainly not cheap. AJ

I can't see where my custom templates are being filed from VWF2008. The templates folder only contains 3 or so default templates. I have tried searching using spotlight but without any result.

On a Mac I select PRINT then SAVE AS PDF, they often come out quite large particularly with images involved so I also open the created PDF in Acrobat and select SAVE AS, then REDUCE FILE SIZE. This really squishes them. You can also try reducing the export resolution from VW in document preferences.

Yes I am finding out more now as 3d section and open GL, in the toolsets at least 50% have an annoying red cross through them. It seems that over the years the developers have split of the various elements of the original Vectorworks to make as much profit as possible from us. 'Milking it' comes to mind. As you say it's not cheap but their tactics are particularly as you have to purchase each update release to climb the ladder to get the latest version. It's ok for large practices but for the small guy it's not economic.

Oh dear Fundamentals is just that. It's such a basic command as well, I feel a bit cheated now! AJ

I have started using a licensed copy of VWF 2008 but it won't let me import a PDF. Is this only possible with VW Architect then, or is there a workaround?
