  1. Perfect. Oh and as for that LED strip; I took it apart and did a surface extract on the face and cut holes where the lenses are supposed to be and filled them with clear glass. Thanks again. Bob
  2. I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I'll ask again. Let's say for example, that I place a curtain object into a drawing and want it to be white instead of black. If I change the attributes of the curtain to white or select a texture that is white, it appears as a dull gray. Is this because of the auto lighting or am I missing something? I'm just trying to get an object to render as white and not gray. Thanks, Bob

"Are you trying to render it or make a symbol?" Yes. Seriously though, I drew an Elation Design 60 LED strip and want to try and get the light sources (20) in it. I tried to put an area light on it, but couldn't get it to emit. I dropped 20 light sources into it, oriented them, and that worked. Although I'll have to do that each time I drop one into a drawing- there's GOT to be an easier way short of editing the symbol and spacing the light sources individually. I just haven't (yet) figured out how to bind the light sources to the fixture so if I decide to alter the orientation of the light, I won't have to reorient the light sources. 63 channel operational mode? Oh no..I'll leave that bit of brain bending to those more seasoned with VW than I. Bob

If I were using say, an LED strip(Elation Design Strip 60 for example)what would be the best recourse for the light object? Do I set multiple sources at approximately the correct spacing and make it a multi circuit instrument, or just make a line light or area light object for the face of the unit? Thanks, Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions Atlanta, Ga.
  5. I have a 50" and 42" if you're still looking. Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions Altanta, Ga.
  6. I received 3 dwgs from an associate. All of the same venue. Two of the three import fine, but one (the one I need most- figures) won't. I get the error 8 "unsupported dwg version" What gives? Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions Atlanta, Ga. VW12.5.3 WinVista 2gb ram
  7. Is VW a 32 bit or 64 bit app? I am going to "upgrade" my OS from Vista to XP Pro and am unsure as to which version I should get. I almost threw my lap through the wall today after VW stopped responding...again. Completely ruined a drawing that I've been working on for a couple of months. I'm not slamming VW- I love the program; I'm SICK though...of dealing with the DAILY hassles of VISTA. Thanks in advance, Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions Atlanta, Ga. VW 12.5.3 MS Vista Home Premium (not for long)
  8. I tried to do it that way, but it didnt work so.... OK Try this. Draw your truss from the truss tool. After you get the correct size, convert it to a 3d poly (modify...convert...convert to 3d polys). Because you cant flip it as a 2d symbol except around the 'z' axis. Now change view to right, or left..your choice, and cntl-L. This will flip it upright, but the truss will retain the 3d qualities. Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions WinVista VW 12.5.3
  9. I'm looking for a 3d block for a Yamaha M7CL-48MB mixing board. I'm trying to avoid building it from the 2d cad off of Yamaha's web site. Thanks, Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions VW 12.5.3
  10. Edit the symbol's 2d insertion option from the resource browser so that all you see is the top chord. Bob 315 Design Solutions
  11. I usually draw my own from the truss tool. As for the optikinetics, check their web site and see if you can download them. Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions
  12. Not having dealt with the multipar symbol yet, I'll ASSume that the unit is oriented lenses up when you drop it into a drawing. You have to edit the orientation of the fixture in question in the resource browser. Get your drawing's name in the drop down menu, scroll down to the unit you want to re-orient, right click on it, edit 3D component,(this will get your light in a window by itself). You're going to want to change the view to the side (right or left- doesn't matter)Right click on the light, rotate.....flip vertical.....exit symbol. If you're doing an angle other than 180, you'll need to know that before you flip the light. If you have the same fixture with more than one orientation (angle), you'll need to duplicate the symbol for each. From then on, in this drawing, you'll be able to drop the fixture in at the angle you want. Remember, everything happens from(your drawing)inside the R.B. Oh yea, make sure you have the latest updates. I've found out that some things are possible in 12.5.3 that weren't in earlier versions. Bob
  13. I've got some things like that if you're still looking. SHoot me an email at bhunterld@yahoo if you're still in need. Bob Hunter 315 Design Solutions
  14. Apparently, the last update addressed the aforementioned issue. I've been experimenting with some existing drawings and am indeed able to set aerial focus points. Hooray.... Bob
  15. Now it's widely known that in 12.5 you are unable to set a focus point above a fixture. I just DLed the showgun MCD file and in playing with it, I set one on a stage, set a focus point 15' above the fixture, and turned it on. I got a nicely rendered beam of light right where I told it to go. Now, did the last update solve this issue? Or did the HES symbol do it? I'm baffled- glad, but baffled. Bob
  16. In V12.5.3 is there a way to change the fog's density? I'd like it a bit thinner. Thanks, Bob
  17. Just got off the phone with tech suport. I knew I was missing something. NOW I know how to orient the fixture correctly. Thanks Guys, Bob
  18. Considering how much money this program cost, you'd think it would be a little less buggy than this. I'm trying to land a design contract with a reality show AND I CANT SHOW THEM A DECENT CONCEPT RENDER. Yes I'm getting extremely frustrated. Course I could always stick to pars, lekos, and fresnels. Yea, now THAT'LL get me considered... Bob
  19. A couple of items...(The first two I find really ironic) 1) Why is it that every fixture in the resource browser is oriented upright, but I can't set the light on the floor, set a focus point overhead, and light the fixture? 2) Why is it that when I drop a fixture into a drawing and re-orient it to an underhung attitude, set a focus point and light the fixture, that the light beam NOW GOES UP? 3) Why is so darned difficult to get ESP and VW12.5.3 to play together? I spent 2.5 hrs online to Kensy @ ESP and stumped him too. We agreed that I needed to delete everything ESP and VISION and re-download and start over. #1 is no more than a PITA. I can always flip the fixture. As long as I dont need to figure the photometrics I'm ok. #2 I'm completely at a loss to figure out. #3 I fear was an error originating on my end during download and installation. Hopefully, I'll get it resolved tonight. OK then.. Bob
  20. I'm using 12.5.2 and when I try to render in Open GL, VW hangs until I get the "not responding" message from Windows. What am I doing wrong? The drawing's good sized, but my pc's strong enough to do it (2.53Ghz/1.25 gig ram). Thanks, Bob Hunter
