  1. You can do it in individual Viewports as VP Class Overrides.

Also if you use the Export PDF command you can set the

Grey Level for greyed Layers and Classes.

Probably neither of these are exactly what you are looking for,

    but maybe useful.

  2. I can't believe it. It works! The walls are back! Thank you!!!

I don't understand why the origin has anything to do with it...but I am happy.

Its weird because first I tried using the Tools>Set Origin Command, and

set the origin to match the building, but that didn't work...but then I tried

it by actually moving the objects to match the existing origin and it worked!

So now I have to go in and edit the crop for each viewport, but at least I

don't have to re-create all of the VP's from scratch...(especially since I have

used a lot of VP class and layer overrides...this is great.

    Thanks everyone.

  3. Thanks Pat.

No, it is not a class issue, all classes turned on.

Open GL options set on Low and Use Textures.

And it is not just OpenGL, it is all rendering modes.

It is file specific. If I copy/paste to a new file it is fine.

In order to get the sample file small enough I just

deleted a couple dozen design and sheet layers.

What gets me confused is that Lucylou is reporting VW2008, I am on 09.

. I can't figure this out. I am in a world of hurt.

  4. This is the second time I have had walls disappear in 3D views.

    Here are some screenshots.

1). Wire frame view, note the walls are outlined:

    2). OpenGL rendering, NO WALLS!:

3). Same view, but after copy/pasting this into a brand new file:

I have attached a sample file. Note that it is an educational file, so do not copy/paste anything from this file into one of your project files. It will put

a watermark on it. You will not have a problem otherwise.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. The solution of copy/pasting everything into

a new file is not really a workable option. I have too many viewports and sheet layers that would need to be re-built...Many, many hours of work. And then what

    if it happens again?

Thanks Wes and anyone for taking on this challenge. I have quit and restarted both

VW and my computer and it still is a problem.

    Thanks

  5. One problem I have with image props is that you can't use Hidden Line with them...they come up as a rectangle, or crossed rectangles...not an outline of the person or object...

I still like them for many reason, but that is one considerable drawback.

  6. You're basically correct. Knowing of course that you can also use Design Layers to control visibility.

I thought of suggesting the use of VP Class Overrides,

(Where you assign attributes to a class using the class properties and "Use at Creation" checked. Then in the OIP change the class attributes in that VP.)

BUT, class overrides does not seem to work with Gradients.

  7. But if I want it to show it in grayscale in a pdf?

I added a wishlist sometime ago about having "Greyscale" be one of the

options for Viewports under Advanced Properties...right below "B&W only"

    Until then try this:

    On a mac:

Either don't select "Black & White Only."

Or you can duplicate the Viewport right over the top of itself.

So you have two VP's stacked directly on top of each other.

Now in the one on top you can turn on "Black & White Only."

Now you have nice black lines, but you still see the color fills below.

Use the 'Print>Save As PDF' or 'File>Export>PDF'

    Open the PDF in Preview

Go to File>Save As> then set the Quartz Filter to Grey Tone.

Now you have the fills as a grey tone and solid black linework.

  8. The trackpad script did not work for me. It resulted in a crazy snap-back when zooming. I replaced my user preferences folder and now just use a mouse and it works fine.

Since you are an architecture student, you might want to change your Workspace to Architect. I don't know why the default is Machine Design.

  9. WTF indeed.

I have one file that did this.

I found that copying and pasting into a new file fixed it. Although that means re-building veiwports...lots of work. Maybe the someone out there has the solution.
