[importing sketchup 8 into 2011 Architect]

I have only ever been able to import Sketchup version 6 into vectorworks 2011 successfully, I've got version 8 but save the file as version 6.

My computer has a Nvidia Quadro FX 3800 garaphics card fitted, does anyone know the best setting for it to run vectorworks?

[joining walls]

I seem to be having problems joining walls in 2011, got fed up and reverted to 2009. Its easier in 2009 you can join wall componants even if the walls aren't joined, in 2011 you have to join walls first before you can use the join componant tool and even then it comes up with things like "can't join walls with end caps" even when the wall doesn't have end caps. Also line styles can be changed easier, for example in 2011 you have to remove all class settings from a line before you can change individual parts of the line settings, in 2009 you dont have to. There are time I wonder why I bothered with the upgrade from 2009 to 2011!

is it possible to get the frame to show against the corner post when using the corner window command?

[contours & 3d locus]

I've been using the terrain tool to create contours, the problem is the tool seems to ignore some of the 3d locus even though they are all selected when i use the terrain tool (see attachment)

I've found the billow radius you have to set the billow size to custom first and it then appears - silly me!

cant get the revision cloud tool to work, I use it to depict hedges on plan, in version 2009 there was a box for billow size, in 2011 its not there. I went into vector scripts pluggin editor & the 2009 version is there but under the category heading it says "do no put in work space" does any one know why this is?

[Printing problems]

since applying SP2 I cant do multiple prints, I set vectorworks to print say 4 prints and it will only print 1, has anyone head this problem. My printer is a HP500 plotter

I purged the file & changed the location of the backup that seems to have sorted it, thanks for you sugestions

having problems saving the attached file can anyone help, every time i use the save command i get an error message and yet when i use the save as command i can save the file

I've been working on a file created with 2009 when I try to save it I get an error message, see attachment, yet when I use the save as command & save it to the file I was saving to in the first place, I can save the file? confused!

[Cursor/Snap delay]

I have a similar problem with my laptop the cursor seems to stick to a snap point, flashing at that point & stops me selecting other functions.

I've only ever had fundimentals & architect in versions 2009 & 2011, I dont think this tool was included with 2010

a tool called landscape area used to work in 2009 but wont in 2011 I get a message refering to an unsupported moule, see attachment, found this tool usefull does it no longer work with 2011

I have an intermittent problem when using vectorworks on my laptop the mouse pointer sticks, repeatably flashing on snap points, I've tried changing the setup for vectorworks, touchpad & display adapter but to no avail, has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution?

just started using version 2011, getting on really well, some good improvments, also quite stable my only gripe is the new stair tool, it would be very usefull to be able to have a single riser before or after a landing. I know this is not good practise but when dealing with older buildings you sometimes have to compromise. Does anyone know how to create a single stair with this tool is there a work around?
