I have been experimenting with the Polyline system of creating a road. Ideally I would like to draw a footpath alongside the carriageway instead of a fence line and a turning head at the end to UK standards throughout. Are there any tutorials out there that would enable me to get to grips with drawing a road layout so that the finished article is presented in a professional manner. Colin Rae Nottingham UK

I click on the desk top icon the VW screen opens with the VW license screen appearing then after a short pause the prog closes down and I get the usual MS message to say that the prog has had to close and to I want to sent a message to MS. If this happens it will continue in this way indefinitely unless I reinstall. Rebooting does not help.

Thanks Katie. Any advice would be most welcome. Windows XP with SP2 currently installed. What info would help in diagnosing why the programme fails to load on occasions? Colin

VW12.5 is increasing unstable on my winsows XP system. I have heard that Intel Macs have better platform and I'm thinking of buying a Intel Mac with 1GB memory,250GB hard drive and 18x DL SuperDrive with ATI Radeon X1600 graphics and 20 inch screen. Has any one experience of such a move?

Problem solved by copying workspaces from one VW programme to another! Why did'nt I think of that before??

I can confirm that I am the administrator on the computer that does not recognise that I have workspaces in the workspace folder. I have VW on a notebook as well as a desktop but I can only use VW on one machine at a time because of the dongle. I am quite content with this arrangement. Both computers were running VW12.5. My question is whether the dongle will allow me to continue to work on the computer with the 12.5 version and once removed and inserted inthe other machine, also allow me to load the 12.1 version from my DVD (and subsequently update via the web site) and then allow me to continue working on the computer with the working VW 12.5 programme - basically I am worried that if I use the dongle to install the 12.1 programme again it will not function on the computer with the 12.5 programme.

I should have added that my disk will install 12.1 not 12.5 so I am worried that if I use the dongle to install 12.1 then I wont be able to use my laptop VW 12.5 programme that has been updated from the web download site. I am currently dependent on the laptop and do not wish to be without the VW prog as I have ongoing projects.

If I reinstall will I be able to use the dongle still (using VW 12.5)on my lap top. I am currently using this to complete some projects and I do not want to disable both programmes. I cant tell what is disabled or not at present as there are no tabs to press down other than File Edit & Help

Katie, Im afraid that despite deleating the registry entries the same message appears after I enter my registration details for the programme. Any further ideas?

In case it helps, my correct registration details are to be found in the VW12 folder/REGISTRATION FOLDER under the HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE-SOFTWARE HEADINGS.

In the regsitry entries for HKEY_CURRENT_USER; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE AND HKEY_USERS there are entries for VW11 and VW12 but I can not tell if the VW12 folder is for the evaluation version of the programme or not? I have in the meantime deleted the progremme for the evaluation version in the programme menu. I have found an ealier answer to a similar problem your ref #64401 8/15/06 which I presume I should follow. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The file sizes are as follows: Classic 198 kb Landmark 322 Landmark Classic 319 Standard 231 Workspace changes 5kn + two backup folders. I am operating VW 12.5 on Windows XP with SP2 I also have a VW12 evaluation version on the same computer and a copy of VW11, although neither are used. The VW DVD that I have recently purchases and now fails to workis for version 12.0.1, Series B102 for Landmark

Yes, in the workspace folder there is the classic, landmark, landmark classic, standard. There are also 2 backup files.

Sorry, when the workspace tab is pressed it says that there are no workspaces in the workspace folder. There is only a File, Edit and Help tabs on the screen.

VV 12.5 running on windows XP

I tried to change workspaces and the program crashed. When starting the program again I have a blank VW page with a small box saying that 'there is no worspaces in the workspace folder. Consequently I can't start up any files I have been working on. Any help will be gratefully appreciated as I have to finish off a project by Monday.

My provider of Ordnance Survey maps has offered a GML type file of a site rather than the normal DXF type. I don't see ant reference to this in the 'Import' menue or any information in the web help page. Has any one tried to import such a file and can it be used like a dxf? Colin Rae Nottingham UK

As a town planner I use dxf base plans in VW Landmark. However i am not sure what is the best way to do this. Do I import at 1:1 scale or at the scale I would like to print to? I am not having much success in either event as the measurements taken on the plan don't correspond with the scale I thought I imported the plan in at. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I am new to Vectorworks and wonder if I could have advice on how to add the date to the title block? It has the work in the box but I can't find out where to enter it in the edit menue.
