    Skylight?

I?m trying to create a skylight in a flat roof and must be missing something. VWA 9.5 help instructs me to: 1) Select Resources from the Palettes menu, then, 2) Select a 3d skylight symbol from the Resources palette. A picture of the open resources palette with a 3d Skylight symbol, located in Roof.mcd, is shown. I cannot find this symbol or ?Roof.mcd? in my program. I?ve tried using window symbols and objects, but I?m told: ?Hybrid symbols cannot be used with skylights? ? and I cannot find a 3d only window symbol to use. Anybody know what I?m doing wrong? Thanks Mac OS 9.01; VectorWorks Architect 9.5
  2. Robert, thanks for the instructions - it works! Is there any way to show door/window swings on the reflected ceiling plan - "show_ceiling_view" shows these inems in the closed position. Thanks again for yor help.
  3. Robert, thanks for the info - this sounds a lot easier than adding (a myriad of)walls to my (myriad of) symbols. The proble now is, when I try to "run" the 'Show_ceiling_view.vsm' program from the Resources pallate, I get a script error message: Line #1: MCVSMShow Ceiling View6|???? ?? | { Error: Identifier not declared. } | { Error: This does not look like a VectorScript program. } | { Error: End of file in middle of program. }Any suggestions of what I'm doing wrong? Thanks again.
  4. I?m having problems with the reflected ceiling plan: when doors and windows are classed as ?doors? and ?windows?, they remain the same in both the floor plan and reflected ceiling plan. When they?re classed as ?sill?, there?s a complete void in the wall on the reflected ceiling plan. I cannot achieve the extended wall over the shaded open door/window as shown in the manual. I?m on a Mac, using VW Architect 9.01, and prepared the project setup with VW Setup Assistant.
  5. Robert, thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the Issue Manager's attributes, but wish I could change the names to something more familiar in the Sheet Pop Up and streamline the selection process by a few milliseconds.
  6. After initiating a project with VA Setup Assistant, I like to revise my set/sheet titles to conform to our sheet numbering system (i.e. ?Floor Plan-1 changes to A1.0 Floor Plan). The problem is that this negates the use of VA Task Manager, which apparently relates only to the initial sheet names established by VA Setup Assistant. When I query VA Task manager, there are no sheets listed. Does any one know a work around for this situation? Thanks

  8. Thanks guys, I have a HP 4v, so the 11 x 17 trick is the one I'm looking for.
  9. I?ve recently moved to a small town where the print/reprographics outfits cannot accept .pdf files, or Mac plot files. The only choice I have is the Xerox enlargement route. I remember, but cannot locate, a previous discussion concerning the ratios for reducing a 24 x 36 file by a certain % and then having the printer enlarge the copy by a certain %. If anyone remembers these percentages, I would appreciate your response. Thanks.
  10. Katie, thanks for the advice. I re-installed VW 8.5 and successfully translated the files.
  11. Anyone know how to open MiniCad 4-5 files in VW Architect 9.01? I've tried the VW Translator 9 to no success. Thanks.
  12. Now I?m really confused. I still cannot obtain symbols that auto-classify out of the Object Browser Pallate menus or oput of Resource Pallate> Object Libraries. Some will auto classify ? 00 Arch_Elements.mcd, 02 Sitework_General.mcd ? but most will not, including all 08 Doors and Windows. After purging my VW preference file and re-installing VWA 1.0.1 (and RenderWorks), I create a new ?blank document? or create a new document using VA Setup Assistant.sta. I then select a wall type from the model menu and draw walls. The drawn walls are auto classed. I then place windows/doors from the Object browser 7/or the Object Libraries in the Resources folder ? and none are auto classed. Any ideas?
  13. I?m confused as well. After upgrading to VWA 9.0.1 two days ago, none of my objects auto assign to a class. I?ve tried using both Architect and Standard workspaces, on new projects using both ?Create Blank Documents? and ?VA setup assistant.sta?. Anyone out there know what I?m doing wrong? Bonose
