  1. Is there a way for various people to work on one file through a network? If not, is there a way to accurately save the files so we don't have to keep creating new files? For example: I work on some floor plans for a project. Close the file when I am done on my computer and my co-worker trys to open the file on his computer via the network and gets a "this file is currently in use" error. When clearly the file is not in use. I have checked the permissions to the files. They are all read + write. Not sure what I a missing. thanks...I'm new to the network and vectorworks. B
  2. Thanks! Seems to be working well now...
  3. Ok... So the permissions are set as: Owner: Read and Write Group: Read only Others: Read only I am going to try to change those permissions. It does not seem to solve the issue yet. And it definitely does not solve the issue of trying to delete the updated files. We still get the message that the old files are "still in use." B
  4. The OS is 10.4.2. I'm not sure if it is a network issue or not. We are working off a main server. But no one else is working on that file. I will check the read/write permissions though to see if that is the issue. Thanks for the help thus far.
  5. We are working off a network here in our office and when we go to save a file we get a read/write error and have to save the file under a different name. What are the reasons for this error? Is there a way to correct it? We only have one person working on Vectorworks in our office. When we go to delete the old file (after renaming and saving the new one due to the "read/write" error), we get a message saying the file is still in use and cannot delete it. Is there a remedy? We are getting piles of files mounting up in our network due to this error. I thought 12.5 might solve some of the file saving issues. B
  6. The update took all day, but everything seems to be working fine so far. Thanks for the help. B
  7. Katie, I've received this message before installing the update to 12.5. Should I update and then update the dongle driver? I will give it a try. Thanks
  8. We have been running VW 12 fine for the last 4 months until yesterday a scanner that was hooked up to the G5 came unplugged. We plugged the scanner back in and the red light on the VW dongle turned off. Now we get this error message: "A VectorWorks dongle could not be found. Make sure that the dongle is connected and that all required drivers have been installed. VectorWorks will now quit." Have tried restarting without the scanner plugged in. Tried restarting with it plugged in. When we restart the red light on the dongle appears for about 5 seconds and goes off. Any help please? Thanks!
  9. Yes, the duplicate doesn't work. It seems to be giving it reads this: "120-Plans copy_v?b0" I will try Tech Support as well. Thanks for any help.
  10. Can ANYONE help me? Has anyone seen this message?
  11. This file is stored on a local computer. We are on a network, however, VW 12 is only installed on this machine and this is the main G5 for all of the drawing files.
  12. Our firm has VW 12 on OS 10.4.7 I have one specific file, even though it was created in VW 12 it refuses to open and i get this error message saying that is an older version of the file. It then proceeds to give me this error message: "This is an unrecognized file. It may be a Vectorworks file created by a newer version of the applications, it may be a very old MiniCAD file, it may have been created by another application, or it may have been corrupted by a hardware or system error." Is there any way to recover this file? It is vital! Thanks for any help. B
