  1. Would anyone have an idea what is causing this white area in the final rendering? It doesn't exist as an object and doesn't show up in openGL or in wireframe. When I export the rendered image the white area changes shape and position in the exported image. Thanks for any help. Bea VW Landmark & Renderworks 2012 iMac OS 10.7.5
  2. Could anyone tell me why an imported pdf won't stay in screen plane: when I change to, say, right view, and nudge or drag the pdf it changes into 3d plane and therefore disappears. I change the plane back to screen in the OIP but the pdf returns to its original position on the page. Similar problems with callout objects. I checked the screen plane/layer plane thread but couldn't find an answer. Thanks Bea OS10.7.3, Intel iMac Vectorworks, Landmark, Renderworks 2012
  3. I've just tried to open a VW2008 file in VW2011 and I get this message in a new window: "divider depth must be equal or less than 112". When I click the option "OK" it beeps but doesn't close and won't let me do anything else, not even quit. Has anyone come across this before? Many thanks. Bea (VW2011, Landmark Renderworks, Mac OS 10.6.5)

    Decal

Thanks very much for your help. Never tried exploding a door before so it's taking me a while - but I can see that it's going to work. Thanks again. Bea
  5. Found it! The settings weren't all the same -I had the anti-aliasing box ticked on the display preferences. It makes quite a big difference to the width of diagonal lines. In case anyone's interested? Bea
  6. Has anyone noticed a difference in the display between VW2010 and VW2011 - plan view, wireframe? Looking at exactly the same file in both versions the lines are less fine in VW2011, especially when off the vertical or horizontal, and detail is lost. All the settings are the same. Any ideas? Many thanks. Bea

    Decal

Is it possible to put a decal on a door in a wall? Thanks.
  8. I looked it up in Help - in fact it says the dialogue box will appear, as it used to. Worked out how to do it using the little selection boxes along the top. It's much better! Bea
  9. I recently updated to VW2010, Landmark & Renderworks (Mac OS 10.6.4). Has the window and door 'set position' feature changed? When I click on 'set position' in the object info panel nothing happens. Many thanks. Bea
  10. Thanks very much for your help. I'll try these things...
  11. Could anyone tell me if there's a way to put shutters on doors. Many thanks. Bea VW2008, Landmark, Renderworks, MacOSX 10.6.2
  12. Could anyone tell me if there's a way to add shutters to doors. Many thanks. Bea VW 2008, Landmark, Renderworks, Mac OSX, 10.6.2
  13. Thanks! I'll do that.
  14. A client has just sent me a dxf as a .skf file. I haven't seen one of these before and am unable to import it into Vectorworks. Could anyone let me know if this is because I have a Mac - should I ask for the file in .dxf format instead? Many thanks Bea
  15. That's it! You're right, it wasn't a survey - I didn't know the terminology ... But now I know about the triangles I see what I have to do. Thanks so much for your help everyone. Bea
  16. I'm trying to draw up a survey taken in 3d of 4 points at different heights (forming a rough square in plan view). I have the height of each point and the distances between each point - 4 measurements around the edge (from point to point) and 2 measurements across the diagonals - all taken in 3d. Please could you explain how I can do this in Vectorworks. (Landmark 2008 on Mac 10.5.6). With many thanks. Bea
  17. Very many thanks for your great help - I see what to do. Bea
  18. Thank you for the clear explanation! I just had one problem - when I loft the curves I get a group of 2 nurbs surfaces - you can see the join, especially when you start adjusting the vertices. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Bea
  19. VW 2008, intel iMac OS 10.5.5. I have been using 4-sided nurbs surfaces to design tensile shade sails (all four corner points at different heights). When I convert a 5-sided nurbs curve, with different corner point heights and curved sides, to a nurbs surface the Z positions of the vertices don't correspond with how a fabric surface would react. I can move all the vertices but it is very trial and error. Is there an easier way to create a smooth 3d surface with 5 curved sides and corners of different heights? Many thanks. Bea
  20. Thanks very much for your suggestions - that's great. It does seem to be a Leopard spaces problem - sometimes the current VW window gets stuck behind another, or even in another space. Thanks again.
  21. I have VW2008 Landmark & Renderworks on an intel imac (OS 10.5.2). In the middle of working on a file the palettes disappear, sometimes just one, sometimes all. If I save the document and open another the palettes reappear. At other times the re-size handles don't show up when I select an object. VW is also generally working slowly. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Many thanks.
  22. How do you run VW under Rosetta - I'm not sure what it is ??
  23. Perfect - thanks very much you two - I found a good 3ds helicopter (having trouble importing sketchup into intel mac). Bea
  24. Does anyone know where I could get a 3d helicopter? Many thanks. Bea
