  1. While nudging (shift + arrow) an object, it stops while the keys are still depressed. When the shift key is released, the object abruptly moves from the stopped location to what would be, I assume, the position it should have continuously nudged to while holding down the shift + arrow keys. 2. Hi Katie, I ran Disk Utility, I believe, after the second crash. The home disk has 27gb available and I do not defrag this computer (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25668). The crashing has been limited to VW so I have not run any diagnostic apps. Edit: What a hoot! I just noted I am a "Greenhorn"! I have been using MiniCad/VW almost since the beginning of MiniCad. Greenhorn! How funny.
  3. The title is about it. I can upload the crash log (964kb) if needed. I had three crashes in a short period of time, with one only minutes behind another, and there have been others. The file is all 2D floor plans and interior elevations. Simple, plain vanilla CAD. Crashes occur while drawing, clicking, etc. ? basic things. Few apps (Safari, Eudora, etc.) open, nothing heavy. I now have the Auto Save set for backups every 1 minute. 4. Thanks Pat. Good advice. I called and got through in less than 5 minutes. TechSupport suggested downloading the new SP2, dated 1/28/08, and 347megs small. lol
  5. I cannot export dwg/dxf using VW2008 and the consultant is using AutoCad2007. Is there a fix for this? I really need some help with this right now. Thanks, Leonard Specs: MacBook Pro, 2.16GHz, 2GB, Mac OS 10.4.11 VectorWorks2008 SP2
  6. When I try to export dwg/dxf of any kind, three squares to a floor plan or VW12.5 or VW2008, nothing happens and the target file is empty. Is there a solution? Please respond; consultants are waiting for our drawings. 7. Yep, it crashed. I thought it was the pdf I sent Katie but something else is happening. I may have to reinstall VW.
  8. BTW, I opened the pdf in Acrobat and resaved it. It crashed VW when I tried importing it again.
  9. The standard Mac yellow triangle with exclamation point and "The application VectorWorks quit unxpectedly." etc.
  10. I did it but it keeps crashing the app when I try to import the pdf. Got a fix?
  11. PDF is not on the File>Import list. Help! The File>Export does have PDF on the list. I read the VW Help on "Importing PDF Files" and it is suppose to be there. And, I did a search here for "import pdf" and found no match for this issue. Thanks.
  12. Olster, which VW files in Cinema did you dump? BTW, thanks guys for letting us know about the new plugs.
  13. mike, thanks for that. The problem happens occasionally. I have before and after screen shots and will send it and the file as a bugsubmit. Yep, I like the Chain Dim feature, too and use it a lot.
  14. Thanks for the replies. Good explanations. Islandman, would you more details about manually editing, please? I like this stuff but am noobish with it. IOW, make it simple for me. Thanks.
  15. If I change the order of my columns or add/delete columns in the Record Format, do I have to "Create Report"/Worksheet and format after every revision or is there a way to get my worksheet to update to the new items and layout? Hitting Recalculate does not make the necessary changes. BTW, I have looked in the VW12 help and searched here.
  16. Bumped hoping for Katie to come back.
  17. Agreed. I can, however, slide the measurement value, independent of the withness line, into a neighboring dimension zone without changing the value. I just did this. Sometimes it does not work and what I described above (posts 1 & 3) occurs. I don't believe so. I just did it moments ago. If I miss the desired dimension point while running a chain, at the end of the chain, after dbl clicking to end the chain and leaving the chain active, I can return to the spot and pull the blue square to the correct point for the dimension and dimensions either side of that new point will auto adjust.. It's a shame I can't post the screen shot. It shows a before and after. May I email it to you? It is reasonable in size.
  18. More info Katie: with millwork drawings, it is common for dimensions in a string to end up overlapping one another. So they can be read, I usually slide the dimensions along the string to expose the dimensions. That said, when I tried to slide a dimension or pull it away from the object, most of the string disappeared and a couple changed value. Re-dimensioning was necessary and being in a crunch, individual dimensions were used. HTH I have a screen shot but am unable to attach it here.
  19. When I adjust one dimension in a string, others disappear or their value is changed. Any ideas as to what is happening? Most of the time this works. BTW, I know "Use Individual Dimensions" is an option but I want to stay with Chain. I am sure this has come up before but the limited search I did uncovered lots of other topics but not this one.
  20. Ray, thanks for that. I just tried it again and up it came. I did something wrong earlier - who knows what. I selected "*Discussion Areas*" this time and maybe that was what I should have done to begin with.
